Are people retarded? They're complaining that this does not look like the concept. It's almost EXACTLY the concept. They just gave it smaller wheels and raised the ride height.

That car looks beautiful. Unique too.
It looks really stumpy compared to the concept. Maybe it's just the angle of the photos, but it looks as though the front and rear end are shared with the concept, while the middle was redone to kill its flowing look and proportions. Or maybe it just needs to be wider. Because as it is, it looks like an economy car.
Maybe it's a model for China, where they have compact Buicks.
I love the old LaCrosse. I hope the new car jumps to the top of the class. It looks good in an Asian sort of way.
I hate it.

I think it's the tiny wheels and relatively large ride height. The Unflattering angle doesn't help.
Eh...

I'm getting really tired of that center dash design with the vertical A/C vents.

For the first time probably ever, I agree with you. The basic elements are there, but it's not sleek and beautiful like the concept. The green house is all wrong.
The first thing I thought of when I saw it was Sebring Sedan.
The interior looks like it carried over ok though, from the few little shots of it there were.
Part of the car reminds me of the Opel Invicta.

i see the sebring in it, too, especially from the rear. it also resembles a toyota, imo.
Tires look too small and, at least from that front quarter angle, it reminds me of the Hyundai Elantra. Interior looks decent, though.

The sides are pretty much the same, the crease line is still there and everything. The camera angle and paint color make it hard to see.
As for the wheels, they look to be base (16 inchers) I'm sure there will be an ~18 inch option that should fill out the wheel wells better.
The crease line's the same? How about the roofline?

Of course the roofline isn't the same, concept cars almost always have unrealistic roofs.

i agree, and the elantra is bland. looks nothing like the concept, imo. damn shame. it's your father's buick. the interior? not enough is shown for me to comment. the car is definitely for the chinese market, but knowing gm, the same car will be sold here. i am obviously disappointed, especially after the introduction of the surprisingly sharp chevrolet malibu ltz!

You can put the most elegant front and rear end on, but if you give a car a stumpy middle, you've accomplished nothing.
I'm really disappointed with the piss-poor fit and finish of the hood interface. Buick, whatever happened to "Beyond Precision"? Whatever engineer designed that didn?t use anything more precise than a yardstick. It looks like you could slide ping pong balls in that gap.
Looks like the hood is floating two inches above the car
Looks like the hood is open.
The current model looks much, much better.

Apparently they are taking styling pointers from whomever penned the latest C class (the hood isn't latched in that photo, says so in the articles)

Evidently they are. Do you seriously not see GS in the c-pillar? And the headlights of the E-class concept and the GS are essentially identical. I don't know about the XF though.
It looks better than in the earlier pictures, but I agree that the 3/4 rear shot is all GS. With Camry taillights to go with it.
What platform is this sucker on?

Epsilon II.
Malibu is on Epsilon II too, right? Is this a wide version of the platform, seems to have a bigger footprint than the Malibu

No, stupidly, GM decided to put the Malibu on Epsilon I.
How stupid, they put the car on a production-ready platform.
The problem with the 04-07 Malibu wasn't the platform, it was the looks inside and out. Why wait around for a new platform to fix what isn't the problem?

Epsilon is horribly inefficient inside? You said it yourself, the Exterior size and interior dimentions don't match (May have been the W-body, can't remember) the size hopefully should be remedied in a more efficient package.

There's no inherent problem with Epsilon I, as there seems to be with the W-Body. The 04-07 Malibu had plenty of space. They screwed that up in the name of style for the current version, a la Nissan Altima, but that's not the fault of the platform. And from GM's perspective, it certainly makes more sense to sell a popular product that doesn't deserve to be popular than a flop that should have sold better.

Why the heck american car have so much big engine?
I like it......from what little can be seen in those newer spy shots. Definitely some visual ties to the Lexus GS, but that's not a bad thing. Switching to the Epsilon platform and ditching the dated W-body platform is a smart move, too.
Now......how about a Riviera spin-off?

Lexus has to be the most generic, bland, banal of the luxury brands. Boring to look at, boring to drive.
Definitely not a leader.
I got to the second picture and closed the window.
Good job GM, i didn't even get to look at the design of the car. The moment i saw the tiny wheels(not just rim size but overall diameter) with the jacked up ride height(there is atleast 4-5 inches between the top of the wheel and the fender maybe as much as 6-7 inches) i just shut it down. Why can't you understand how bad this makes a vehicle look. EVERY DAMN CAR YOU MAKE LOOKS LIKE THIS. The G8/CTS/Malibu even the corvette has way too much wheel gap. Even your trucks look comical with a tiny wheel and 2 feet of wheel gap. It's strange how other automakers can get a car to have a good stance with minimal wheel gap AND still have plenty of suspension travel(which i imagine is the corporate line for having a shit load of gap).
Sorry for the pointless rant, i'm just getting so god damn tired of GM floating down the fail river sitting back and soaking up the sun. I get tired of hearing how they are the best automaker in the world(and very well could be if they just pulled their head out of their ass) and then seeing shit like this.

I have plenty of problems with GM, it has come to the point were even the little things drive me nuts. I try to ignore them but it just seems that even when the try hard and mean well the old ways still shine through. Also to some it is a big deal. All the people who buy aftermarket wheels or lowering kits are doing so to improve the cars look. Wheel gap and rim design and overall wheel size(does it fill the well evenly, etc) can improve any cars look. In the case of GM a piss poor wheel that's too small for the well with a shit load of gap can also ruin the entire look of the car.
