You're not alone. A new Vette styled like the worst looking Vettes ever made is not cool.
they gotta stop making 12983719026379817 concepts for the damn vette
The only styling touches that look nice are the ones lifted from ferrari, the 550 in particular.
Here GM, just copy this.

Funny, i never thought of that(as far as the side vents go).
I did however see that design in the front area, which is what i don't like about it. It does remind of the the vette you posted. For me, however, that isn't a good thing since i dislike the style of those 70 vettes.

I like it, but it's a bit too retro, isn't it?
You know, I really should buy a C4 and fully recondition it, giving it shiny new paint (all C4s you see have very dull paint, making them looks much older than they are) and mod it a bit. They are probably my favorite.

My coworker had a showroom condition C4 Vette he used to bring to work every so often. God knows what ridiculous price he ended up selling it for. It was nice, but not as nice as the C3 a friend's mom from HS once had (still has?): sparkling metallic burgundy paint, slick mesh deep-dish rimz with perfect offset, and a re-upholstered tan leather interior. And I guess it didn't hurt that not only was my friend hot, her mom was a total MILF
So yeah, that's what this car reminds me of.

That was the "star" of Corvette Summer. Wasn't it a college project car or something like that? I also remember it being right hand drive.
I like it better than the generic styling of the C6, and it way trumps the C5 and C4.
I think it'd take a drumming because of the late-to-the party retro look however.
The only Corvette that truly fascinates me, design-wise, is the C2. (In particular, the 1963 split window coupes.)
The C3-inspired concept is surprisingly good-looking, though.

Oh my. The addition of the bumperettes does wonders for the rear end, and those front fenders are exquisite, especially in this day and age of collapsible front ends for pedestrians to bounce off onto the road.

And yes, it is 1:18 scale. And the passenger door is a little loose, so it can appear misaligned at times. But I love it.

I owned a '75. it didn't drive like shit, even for it's day (it was slow in stock form, but it wasn't hard to make the SBC make lots of power). I like the pre-plastic bumper C3, and as much as I like that concept, I don't think it would be right to make it the next Corvette, especially considering that car found itself in a fuel and emissions crisis, too. I don't think it's a good historical footnote, at least the latter C3s.

I just think it looks fragile.
It also suffers from being stuck in one of the more mundane design periods. There's a certain appeal to the clean, rather boring boxes of that era, but the Corvette is an exciting car, and it's hard to pass over a good design from 1950, 1960, 1970, 1990, or 2000; for a good design from 1980.

The C6 was supposed to look like the Corvette Miami project (rarely ever seen), but it was scrapped at the last minute. Phil Berg of "Ultimate Garages" fame, who also wrote C6 Corvette, told me that the car was supposed to look a lot more like the XLR in its sharp angles, but when the design team showed it to the Corvette Club of Miami, the backlash was so strong that they completely redesigned the skin before the C6 came out, thus giving us the rather conservative Corvette we have today.

The third gen Corvette started in 1968, which means it was a 1960s design. By 1980, it was very long in the tooth (and still had a couple more years of sales before the C4 showed up).
The C3 was one of my personal favorite Vettes (especially the early ones before all of the emissions crap choked all the power out of them). The shape was downright sexy. I'd love a '69 427 Sting Ray.

I like the "shark" 'vettes, that's why I had a '69, and Hemi's right, that looks just like it!
The fugliest, IMO was the 1978, the body looked like a bloated RX-7 from the same era.
It also made less HP than a stock MINI...

i really hope the next C7 has a much more drastic look in styling and I hope it's a hate it or love it thing. As long as it keep running circles around higher end cars it's all gravey, I just hated when they did new body work for the Z06 and it looks basically the same and then the ZR-1 and then it looks basically the same... Seriously should have just made the ZR-1 look like a C6R, side exhaust, wing and all.
My Wife's uncle had one of these 1978 Pace Cars and sold it a few years ago:
The car had 3K on the odo and he even had the original door decals (not applied) and a leather jacket that came with it. Yeah not the greatest year but he offered it to me for $13000. I should have bought it. It was like it just came out of the showroom.
$13000 for a model car? That seems silly.

I don't know, Tamiya makes some great models.
man those stingrays are nice.
I also dislike the C4 vettes.
I hope the next Vette is mid-engined.

Then it's not a Vette.

Actually since most vette fans would scoff at the idea and since the vette already has a established image(for good or bad) GM should split off from the vette and build a higher up model that employs a mid-engined design.

Just make a Cadillac Cien
i'm all for that. Maybe bring back a $40K slot car? And have the Vette move up to the $60K slot? Or vice versa bring the Vette back down to the $40K slot it used to be and make a new MR car in the $60K slot.
