We seem to have some gamers on this form. I was asked by another dork the other day to list the 10 best games of all time. Not the most influential games, but the games that I thought are the most fun or memorable. It took me a long time to break it down to just ten. So what are some of your favorites?

Warcraft II
AoE II
GT4
Quake I
Marathon II
SimCity 2000
Escape Velocity
Civ II
- Zelda: Ocarina of time (perfect, even if cartridge based games were somewhat flawed)
- Perfect Dark: Best shooter of the time until,
- Halo II: not as good as Halo I but,
- Halo I: Had no online multi-player but still offered immense replay value, similar to,
- MW2: Nothing is more satisfying than fucking people up in multi-player with an AC-130 unless you're into old school games like,
- Zelda: A Link to the Past: Who the hell knows the chronology of Zelda, but at the time, it was (in my humble opinion) the best game ever made, even better than my previous favorite,
- Castlevania: Great graphics and music coupled with a chilling story and addictive game play, similar to but slightly better than another epic game,
- The original legend of Zelda: "Experience the challenge of endless adventure" summed it up nicely, but it was never quite as challenging as playing,
- Super Smash Brothers Melee: piss drunk with my friends in college.
I only have nine - every other game can go fuck itself.

Mario Kart 64
Goldeneye 007
Final Fantasy X
GT4

5) Wolfenstein 3D
6) Sim City 2000/3000

:praise:
I don't know why no one else here likes this game
1. Dragon Warrior - got me hooked on RPGs at the age of 5, and is probably responsible for me taking 4th grade reading courses when I was in kindergarten. Lots of text.
2. Chrono Trigger
3. Final Fantasy III (or 6, whichever numbering scheme you prefer)
4. Earthbound
5. Oblivion
6. Gran Turismo III
7. Deus Ex
8. Half Life
9. Goldeneye
10. Doom II
In no particular order:
-Final Fantasy XII (PS2) - Of the "traditional" FF games I've played, this had the best/most enjoyable combination of story and gameplay
-Gran Turismo 4 (PS2)
-Goldeneye 64 (N64)
-Final Fantasy Tactics (PSX)
-Burnout 2 (PS2)
-Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64)
-Supercross Circuit (PSX) - the Gran Turismo of off-road motorcycle racing, the only SX/MX game to my knowledge that has real world tracks
-Suikoden III (PS2) - Story is told through four converging/parallel points of view. Possibly my favorite RPG.
-Tetris (various platforms)
-Mario Kart 64 (N64)
Honorable mention to:
Metal Gear Solid 3 (PS2)
Uncharted 2 (PS3)
Ogre Battle 64 (N64)
Shadows of the Empire (N64)
Oh yeah, Suikoden III was great. I got 100% of the characters. :praise:
How did I forget Tactics?
Introduced in 2003, and it's still very relevant and has an unreal replay value. Plus, the huge amount of addons and buildings that are user created is just excellent.
How is Simcity 4 drastically different from Simcity 3, 2000, and the original?

No, but your comment about 4 is also applicable to all of SimCity's predecessors. I was wondering if 4 has anything that is particularly game changing.

Grand Theft Auto series (mainly 1,2 and 4)
GT Evolution (amazing sim racing, GT and Forza can't touch it)
Team Fortress 2 (a whole new spin to FPS games, and its customization is insane)
Mario Kart 64
Portal
Uncharted, 1 & 2
Call of Duty series
Battlefield series (excluding Heroes)
I never really got into Zelda or Pokemon (though I should try to play Pokemon).
I play Heroes in school. XD

I don't like Heroes because they initially made the game as a free game and they said that buying weapons doesn't give you an advantage.
Now if you don't buy weapons it's pretty much impossible to play against the paying players.

Amiga 500 was sooo much better than the ST :P
One of my cousins had a 1040ST and the other had an A500. So I got to see both versions of a lot of the games of that era.
You liked the Wing Commander sequels? I never thought any of them were as good as the original.

I still have it and played it a few months ago. Still as addictive as it ever was. Did you know they made a part II for that game? It never came to the US. I'm thinking about getting it anyway and just not reading what's going on.

I would still play it, if the performa wasn't a total disaster.
Oh fuck Delta Force 2 was like my first love back in the day. Loved that game.

Sorry, I don't know. I've still got all my old ones so I never looked into that before. Or I just put them on the Wii.
i was a very deprived kid! i only had the occasional ability to sneak into the video arcade at a local mall as a child when pac man, ms. pac man and frogger were popular. aside from these methods of escape, it seemed like every cartoon character and rescue hero had a pinball machine that i tended to play. later in life, "seinfeld" came along and i was reminded of my youth (when frogger was hot). that espisode of "seinfeld" when george just had to keep his top score alive and well (dodging nyc traffic attempting to cross the street) was one of my favorite 30 minutes of television. still. lol! today, i am spoiling my nephew with the many games mentioned in the posts above.
WoW
GT2
Unreal Tournament 2003
Doom 2
Final Fantasy 8/12 ( a tie )
Oblivion
Fallout 3
Castlevania SoTN
Master of Orion
Street Fighter Alpha 3

LOL, Sonic and Knuckles! LOCK ON TECHNOLOGY!
Sega had a fetish for turning consoles into XXX game hardware gangbangs. I would love to see a four-way between a Genesis sandwiched between a Sega CD and a 32X, with a copy of Sonic and Knuckles in between Sonic 2 and the 32X cartridge slot.
Are you getting as excited as I am? :winkguy:
