Title: The Combined Carspin Horsepower Thread
Post by: cawimmer430 on August 18, 2011, 06:41:27 AM
So the aim of this thread to see just how much heat Carspin as a whole is packing.  :praise:

Each member should list the horsepower output of the car(s) they are currently driving.

Once everyone has posted their figures, we will add them up and see what the total horsepower figure for Carspin is.

I'll start:

1989 Mercedes 500SL = 326-horsepower
2007 BMW 118i = 143-horsepower
2010 Mercedes E350 CGI = 292-horsepower
---------------------------
Total Horsepower = 761-horsepower

Which engine does your Peugeot 309 have?

Here are the power figures: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peugeot_309

I see a 92-hp 1.6-l motor there. Is that you?

I take it you don't check out the SOTW thread very often?

http://www.carspin.net/forums/index.php?topic=11546.msg1552171#msg1552171

Or my sig, for that matter!

Yes, I replaced my RWD, automatic, alloy wheeled, white exterior, beige leather interior sedan with an aspirational badge with another RWD, automatic, alloy wheeled, white exterior, beige leather interior sedan with an aspirational badge!

The Mighty Volvo has been relegated to lawn ornament status behind my house because I haven't figured out what to do with it yet.  I just can't bear to send it to the scrapper.  It's too good for that.

BTW, any idea where I can get an Opel Omega grille and a set of badges and wheel centre caps?  I've had no luck on eBay.  Since you're in Germany, I assume finding these items would be easy, right?

I check the SOTW thread once in awhile but I must have missed that part where you said you bought a Catera. I saw the post where you were checking out and drove it etc. Congrats on the car! An interesting choice I must say given how you're not exactly a friend of most post-1970 American cars. Well the Catera is a German car - literally, but still.

You want Opel Omega badges and a grille for your Catera? You serious?

My dad has his Mercedes 500SL serviced at an Opel dealer (cheaper than a Benz dealer). I'm sure they have a lot of Opel spare parts lying around, including badges. If you want I can put you into contact with the owner but I need to get the contact details from my dad. Also, I can visit local Opel dealers and look for Omega badges etc.

Yes, I'm serious.  I need the grille, wheel centre caps, the Opel "Blitz" badge on the trunk and one for the steering wheel boss, and the "Opel" and "Omega 3.0 V6" badge for the rear.  Used parts would be okay, too.  Let me know if you can find any.  Thanks!  :ohyeah:

No, it was the 240 with only 155 hp. It's obvious you just looked up the stock specs on that one. Nobody who actually owns a 240 would ever: a) admit that it only has 155 hp, or b) not modify it to make more than 155 hp.

No, it was the 240 with only 155 hp. It's obvious you just looked up the stock specs on that one. Nobody who actually owns a 240 would ever: a) admit that it only has 155 hp, or b) not modify it to make more than 155 hp.

Touche

I know the HP of the 240 because it was such a drastic improvement over the SOHC model, it's a symbol of pride.
I did however resist the urge to justify it's existence in my garage by not listing all the "future" powertrain possibilities.

Actually thinking of a KA-T, my buddy has a LS 240. It's nice but I might try to keep it original. Other possibility is a RB20 if I can find it cheap enough.

My other idea was to create kind of a infusion of early performance trims similar to early german or Italian lightweights. If I can strip and trim the weight down to 2000lbs and pump up the stock 2.4 to around 200-220 in N/A form I would be happy with something alittle different.

Nooooooo don't strip it down. Just add 25 pounds of boost.

It's a canadian model with a LSD, no ps, no pw, no pl, no A/C. Not exactly pulling all the luxury out.

It will never be more than a fair weather car.

Ok, but just reminding you... 240hp and 9K rpm is awesome.

That might be nice, If i wanted that I would just buy the whole car which is something I am currently looking at. However if our automotive enthusiast bible(yes i'm referring to the fast and furious pentalogy) has taught us anything it's this. In the teachings of genesis(episode 1) when a honda motor won't due, stuff a nissan motor in it. They never would have jacked those trucks with some shitty d or b series in those civics.

And it's a lot older, too . You're lucky I don't have a new one. 268 hp seems excessive for a Camry.
