Inspired by Craig and John in John's thread.
What would be the first car you purchase if you won the lottery (a sizable amount, 100 million or more)? You can do other firsts (house, boat, watch, sunglasses, dog, cat, standing fan, soda), but limit it to one per category.
My firsts:
Car: Aston Martin V8 Vantage roadster with a 6 speed stick. In a dark blue, then I'd get black wheels for it.
Place to live: I don't have the exact place, but I think the first purchase would be a luxury, preferably penthouse, condo in Philadelphia.
1. Drive to Toronto to pick up cheque.
2. Drive over to Pfaff Porsche and buy a 911 Turbo.
3. Give Pontiac G5 to some homeless guy.
4. Buy modest house until dream house is built.
5. Buy Cirrus SR-22GT airplane.
6. Learn to fly.
7. Rent 8 car transporter to bring purchases back from Barrett Jackson auction.
8. Buy ignorant-black Lamborghini Aventador.
9. Buy a boat.
10. Drink beer on my new boat.
The hottest hooker I can find in the world.
Then an Aston Martin and a Ferrari
Probably a GT3 RS.

Sounds about right. :ohyeah:
My first thought would be to head down to the first Barrett-Jackson auction and buy whatever-the-hell I wanted...and, maybe, get a hug from Amy Assiter ;).

Aventador
Ariel Atom. Maybe with a wee turbo on it.
Or a Pagani Zonda R.

I like your train of thought. Here is how my first week would go:
1. Change all our phone numbers and email addresses.
2. Quit my job. I really like where I work, so I would give him a cheque for $50,000 for his trouble since he will most likely miss several deadlines.
3. Drive to Kamloops (2 hours away) to pick up cheque.
4. Deposit Cheque.
5. Fly to wherever the hell I have to in order to get a pristine low mileage Ford GT.
6. Drive it home from wherever the hell I found it.
7. Buy acreage and have my dream home and especially my dream garage designed. House would be 3500-3800 sq.ft. and the garage would be 4000 sq.ft.
8. Buy a really cool ski/wakeboard boat
9. Take the family on a trip to Fiji.
EDIT: I deleted the 2nd half of my post because it didn't follow the intent of the thread.
I have absolutely no idea. There are too many cars that I want. Barrett Jackson sounds like a good place to start looking, though. That, or I'd just bring my El Camino to a hot rod shop and have them finish it.
A garage would be the next order of business. I'd probably just buy a small warehouse and use that.
I'd start with a 993 Turbo S.
I am a little concerned about appearing rich, possibly because most of my friends aren't. So I'd either go with a 2007 STI Limited (if I can find one), or a new STI hatch, get it tuned locally, maybe do some minor suspension mods, and then a few months later discreetly add the Triumph Speed Triple.
My first two purchases would be of the non-car segment;
First would be a Doral Alegria
(http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff207/lawhog/landing_1089901.jpg)
Then an Ocean Alexander 72 pilothouse
(http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff207/lawhog/262128_p_t_640x480_image011.jpg)
Then, my next stop would be at the BMW dealership for this;
2012 BMW 650i convertible, but I would prefer a really nice metallic green with the nearly white leather. If not available, I would do it just like the photo except it would have very similar wheels in bright chrome. I would prefer a stick if available, but I would settle for auto.
This engine is incredible in every respect, and the new bodystyle is sex.
Porsche. Probably a Cayman, maybe a 911.
Of course this would be sometime after I bought a nice plot of land in the country and built a big garage/workshop.

I would give three friends a million dollars each, so we can be rich together.
Ha, there ya go.
First lottery purchase? Expensive dinner!
Second? I'd get the knees replaced on me 1926 sailing dinghy (built by my great great grandfather) so I could toss it back in the water.

I'd get a gift for all my coworkers. A custom keychain, with a picture of me, at my desk, with both my middle fingers up, with the words "Wish you were here".
Because they're stuck there! And I'd be free!
I think I'd buy an S550.

black Cadillac CTS-V coupe. First thing I would do is skip out, take it on a cross-country road trip to NYC, and then fly to London from there. Do some backpacking across Europe into Greece, then take a flight down to India, Thailand, Japan, then Alaska. Take a cruise from Alaska back to CA, and come home to this: http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/11852-Pacific-Coast-Hwy_Malibu_CA_90265_M12495-56052 (http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/11852-Pacific-Coast-Hwy_Malibu_CA_90265_M12495-56052)
Oh yeah, and have the Caddy transported back to my new home from NYC.
Well, for the purpose of this hypothetical, I'll assume that I'll still be working in Dallas starting this summer so first things first I'd put down a deposit for a condo in this building (the blue one):
Preferably this floor plan:
~5000 sq ft at $500 per so that'd be $2.5mm ()
Car wise:
Probably the first car I'd buy would be a Mazda MX-5 while I had a chance to drive a few nice sedans and wagons (3-Series and A6 being front-runners, vs. their respective competitors). I'd also strongly consider a two-door Wrangler or maybe a base Tacoma, as something to park on the street where dents only add to its character.
Car:
At that amount, I'd be finding one of these immediately:
Residence:

Pssh, everyone wants a rich friend that wins the lottery. They benefit from the parties, fun cars, and big house too! I think I would do some big vacations and pay the way for some friends to come with me that way you can really enjoy the money with friends.
I'd rent out the billboard sign across from my job and it would tell them what I thought.
As for cars it be a FD RX-7. Now that's not the only car I'd get. I'd pick out a car like you guys and have it in a week. But I know of an FD near me that I want so that would be the first thing I went to get. Probably a DB9 or something like that.

I certainly had a lot of fun driving the Miata. I appreciated that I could drive it fairly hard even in urban conditions without making too much noise or breaking laws.

This has to be the ONLY enthusiast forum where a Miata get mentioned in a 100 million dollar Lotto thread..............
That would buy something like 3,333 Grand Touring MX-5s!
Let's see here...
First purchase has got to be a super expensive dinner and subsequently an enormous tab at a bar with all my pals.
I'm just going to go into everything that I would get, because this is sorta fun. I am also going to pretend this is a post-tax $100 million
Alright, houses:
House in New Orleans. Nothing too huge or fancy. ~$1 million
Garage will consist of:
1) Supercharged Range Rover Autobiography
2) BMW 740i
3) Porsche Boxster S
House in Vail, Colorado ~ $3.5 million
Garage:
1) Mercedes GL550
2) Audi RS4
3) Ferrari FF
Last but certainly not least, a waterfront house designed by me that has a dock and an underground parking garage in Darien, CT ~$10 million
Garage:
1) Aston Martin V12 Vantage
2) Aston Martin DB7 GT
3) Porsche 997 GT3 RS 4.0
4) Porsche 993 Cabriolet
5) Audi S8
6) Audi TT-RS
7) E39 BMW M5
8) 3/4 ton Chevy Suburban
What can I say? I'm a dreamer
I would acquire all this over a number of years though. I don't want to reduce my interest earning principal too much at the beginning ;)
You know, since I got the bike, cars just don't thrill me like that anymore. If I had to get a car now, hmmm. I would prob build up an old Prelude or something low key like that. If I could get a bike, I'd prob get an NCR M4 One Shot. Ducati with a titanium frame, 280 something lbs (compared to 400-450 lbs stock), titanium and carbon fiber strewn all about. There aren't any street cars that can do 9s-10s out of the box so its like... meh
First car related purchase would be an LS3 swap into my car along with a ton of upgrades (wheels, tires, brakes, etc).
First car I'd buy would probably be the F10 M5 6MT. Then I'd get a '91-'93 NA Miata and deck that out.
After that, I'd get:
S800
S2000
NSX
FR-S/BRZ
AE86
E30 M3
E28 M5
E34 M5
911 GT3 RS
911 GT2 RS
993 911 GT2

When it comes to cars... I just want feedback and simplicity. I would rather a well modded 240SX over this Swedish Veyron
I'm not big on hypercars either.
Buying expensive cars bores me.
I'd probably get something plebeian to drive when I'm at home, like a Fiesta or similar. My house would be pretty small and low-matinence, maybe some condo or downtown loft.
But the rest of the money would be going towards traveling. Like driving a rolls-royce across China. Or a Corvette through Japan. Or a Cadillac through eastern Europe. Or taking a cheap car and driving from my house through South America.
Oh, and I'd have one of these:

You know, since I got the bike, cars just don't thrill me like that anymore. If I had to get a car now, hmmm. I would prob build up an old Prelude or something low key like that. If I could get a bike, I'd prob get an NCR M4 One Shot. Ducati with a titanium frame, 280 something lbs (compared to 400-450 lbs stock), titanium and carbon fiber strewn all about. There aren't any street cars that can do 9s-10s out of the box so its like... meh

When it comes to cars... I just want feedback and simplicity. I would rather a well modded 240SX over this Swedish Veyron
I don't understand you at all, dude. First you say that there are no cars that do 9s-10s out of the box stock, so you don't want any current car, and that'd you'd rather have a completely pimped out bike with titanium and CF bits thrown at it, but then when a CCXR is suggested, it's too garish and you'd rather take a 240SX? :wtf: :wtf:

Probably a new M5. Give me something more practical to go car shopping in for more ridiculous stuff .
A gt3 rs 4.0 in black would be next if i could find one. Probably put my name on the Ferrari wait list, the scuderia should be out by the time my name came up. I'd probably get the new boxster when it came out, and 911 turbo two years from now.

I have always wanted to get a 911 GT3 RS 4.0 and a 1973 Carrera RS 2.7 that match.
Here's the Carrera RS 2.7, although I would prefer the green to be darker:
The GT3 RS 4.0 would have the same color scheme. I would then have to make my garage glass and visible from all of the windows in the rear of my house so I could stare at them all day :tounge:
I'd get a DB9, an XKR convertible, and an Outback. DB9 for the rainy spring and fall, the XKR for the summer months, and the Outback for when we need to haul things or get two inches of snow on the ground.
The GT3 RS 4.0 would be my first purchase.
Assuming I get married, I'd get my wife an A6 3.0T Avant (maybe an LR4), I'd get an E90 M3 to DD, a 964 Turbo because I love them and an NSX. Can I keep the GTI?

I can't imagine why someone would bother with Fiestas and Nissan 240's with a lotto jackpot, but I can kinda see why someone wouldn't want to bother with a ridiculously powerful hypercar. The cars I'd buy are ones that I can enjoy on public roads. The most exotic I'd go for would be a Ferrari California or Audi R8 Spyder. But I'd be most excited to pick up some classic convertibles: Merc 280SE, '58 Corvette, and maybe a resto-modded Karmann Ghia with an air-cooled Porsche turbo engine. Oh, and a Ducati Monster for good measure (maybe a 696 so I don't kill myself)

I didn't say I don't want any car. Just that cars don't really excite me that much any more, so I probably wouldn't spend too much of my money on them.
The NCR doesn't look like anything crazy. Its like an M5. It's pretty low key in appearance despite being all pimped out and incredibly well engineered, which I really like. I don't understand the gripe with choosing something like a 240SX over a CCXR either. Are 240SXs considered garish? Are they in any way like Veyrons? Cars like the GT-R and CCXR and Veyron embody a lot of what I hate about modern performance cars. I would rather get something with performance I can access, simplicity I can tinker with and feedback I don't have to drive at 10/10ths to enjoy. What's not to understand? It's not like I would keep it stock. I'd prob build up a VQ30 w/a bunch of one off parts and ride with that. 300 or so HP is more than enough for the street, and it would be something built completely to my taste. And it wouldn't yell "LOOK AT ME AND ALL MY MONEY!!!". I don't like that
I've driven big fast cars... luxury coupes... yadda yadda. For the most part, it's all just kind of boring to me now. It's like a roller coaster. Push the pedal and go. I do like a well thought out race build, or trick engineering... but I hate the increasingly thick insulation between the driver and the car. So in that context I don't see why it's hard to understand why a CCXR doesn't do it for me. I'd rather something like an NSX, whatever.
I'd like to know how you would know that a Koenigsegg doesn't communicate well to the driver?

I think I'd have to buy a big garage or barn first. Having enough land with the garage/barn to build a personal 1.5-2 mile road course w/ autocross pad would also be nice. Then I'd start car shopping.

Actually, there are lots of cars I'd like to do manual swaps to:

The first ones ok. The second ones not stock and it's from the north. Won't buy any car from the north.
Just because a car lives in the north does not mean it lives in the salt and snow.
Take Rohans 545i, it is a 2005 with less than 55k miles and has never seen snow. The 04 330iC I bought my wife was almost the same way, except I did drive it up north (where I live now) in light snow once from the Detroit area.
I would never ever buy a car from anyone who lives near an ocean beach. They are exposed to moisture borne salt air, which is much worse because it permeates everything right down to the carpet and wiring.

I know that it's not 100% that a car would have rust on it. But I'd have to fly up and look it over for hours before I'd even think of getting a car from up north. And I'd also never by a car that was near the ocean too.

Actually I've got a 1978 Chevy 4WD truck to drive in snow. But the Miata has been in snow about 3 times. After that it was pressure washed from the bottom out. It's not the best thing in the world but it's all I could do seeing that it started snowing while I was at work.
Listen, it's a fact that cars from the north rust much faster then cars from the south. No need to try and argue they don't. I see 1-2 year old cars from NY that have already started rusting and the bolts won't come off. You don't see that shit down here with our cars.
I know what you're saying. Here in Canada, you don't buy cars from Ontario and Quebec because it's like they use straight salt on the roads, whereas out here they use more sand than salt. My Focus came from San Jose, my Explorer came from Seattle (chances are it saw very little snow), and my next car will be a southern car again.

There are times when there is more salt on the road than snow out this way. I'm really surprised that modern cars last as long as they do. My '01 Escape has been on the road for more than 11 winters and is almost rust free; but I get it sprayed each year with Krown.
Probably just a new Lancer Evo. Something low-key to get me around while I consider my next purchase.
Wrangler. The sports car wouldn't come until several years down the line. No, I meant from a practical angle. If I just got back from 6 months in Australia, the last thing I'm going to want to do is take my DB7 to the dealer to tune it before being able to drive it. Keeping up with all the maintenance on an exotic when you're never around must be a huge pain in the ass. Also, I wouldn't even want a car like that if all it did was sit in my garage.

The answer is simple. Hire me as your personal exotic car caretaker. I do have the proper credentials. I only ask for room and board, and a modest personal allowance for clothing/hookers/blow/other essentials.

Welcome to the club! Plus it'll be new!
I have a ticket that I got on my birthday a couple of days ago. There are different prize levels.
1.6M, 3M, 6M (roughly converted to all U.S.)
In every case I?d spend about 500K in a relatively big apartment in the same area that I live today.
If I got 6M, I?d splurge and get an Aventador (500K here) an M5 (127K), a Boxster S (80K), and an Evoque (60K).
If I got 3M, I?d get a 991 911S (130k), an M5, and an Evoque.
If I got 1.6M, I?d trade in the E90 M3 for a new E92 (50K) and an Evoque.
Anything left over I?d invest in every case, partly in my business, partly in other assets.

They just stapled doors to the back of a DB9.
And?

It isn't any worse than trying to take the design of a rear-engine 2+2 sports car and mangle it to fit over the chassis of a front-engine V8 luxury sedan

I don't think there's a large luxury sedan made now that. doesn't look better than the panamera. It's fucking all kinds of ugly.
Agreed. I thoroughly dislike the look of the Panamera.

I love the Panamera. The only big luxury sedan that looks better than it right now is the Maserati.
Just because most other cars are ugly now in no way makes the Panamera good looking. Not that I agree with you anyway because the Panamera is the ugly one out of the list.
I'd put my hand on my Larry Bird autobiography and admit that I really did throw up in my mouth the first time I saw one. It was because I made the puke sound and motion
too much and my body did puke. But it was because of that UGLY car.
I'd put my hand on a Bible but that would mean nothing to me.

Boo. The comedy of proportions Rapide only has momentum (LOL it's an Aston therefore I have to say it looks good), the XJ is a hideous whale abortion, the S class is boring, the 7 series has the grille of a Mack truck, and the LS is derivative.
You seriously think the Panamera looks good? With the terminally underhweeled stance, gawky proportions and gimmicky styling language?

Yes. It does benefit from the fact that all its competitors look like shit, though.
Take off your Porsche glasses Raza. I can't believe that you actually think it looks good and the others look like shit.
The Panameras sure do seem to be selling well though.
I'll take the upcoming Audi S8 than you very much :praise:

In my defense, I forgot about the A8. That looks better.
A7.

A7.
My mom might get one of those. I like them and I think it would be a good fit for her. Her S500 is way too big.

Well, the fact the door is coving those legs is making me mad.

You're like 2 days late with that.
The closest Lambo dealer is 5 hours away, so the first purchase for me would be a CTS-V wagon.

I have the same problem, the Aventador would be my first purchase if the nearest dealer wasn't 3 hours away. My first purchase would probably be an Audi A5.
You guys seriously wouldn't drive 3-5 hrs to pick up a Lambo?

I would. I would drive 3-5 hours for a regular car, if I thought it was worth it.

I'd pick up a CTS-V first to make that 3-5 hour drive turn into a 2 hour drive.
Exactly.
Interestingly, the closest Lambo dealer is closer to me than the closest Cadillac dealer.

Same here, although that's probably because the closest Cadillac dealer is in China.

Nobody else sees how awful that looks? It looks like a bad photoshop of a DB9 in the style of Salvador Dali.

It doesn't look good, but it's not half as ugly as the panamera.

Not officially. They were just about to launch the brand, and then the pesky GFC left a fine old santorum on GM's plans.

A7.
I honestly much prefer the looks of the regular A6 over the A7. Same applies in the case of A4 over the A5 four door "coupe". The two door real coupe A5 is nice.
Not that I?d ever get any of those cars.

I don't like it as much as a 2 door Aston. And if I had the money I'd never buy it.
But it's not near as ugly as the Panamera.

The coupes are much better looking, but I don't mind this four door. I think it's miles ahead of the Panamera. The engine sound alone is enough to make me lottery buy this car, even if this engine was stuffed into some rusty ass 1970's Dodge truck.
I picked this particular vehicle for a lottery purchase as the " family hauler ".

Very few cars are behind the Panamera aesthetically. GM no longer makes the Aztek.
I would go down to the local Ford dealer down the road and buy the orange Boss 302 they have and then take a 6 month road trip. I would then buy more cars when I get back or along the way. Also would love to do the Gumball 3000 one day so who wants to be co pilot?
