The car was created by installing the all-wheel drive system, the six-speed dual clutch transmission, and the 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6 from the GT-R sports car into a modified Juke body.
Time and again Nissan has claimed that the Juke-R is merely a one-off special and that it is not slated for regular production.
Confirming a report published this morning by England?s EVO magazine, Nissan has announced that it will build a limited run of Juke-Rs after all.
The Japanese automaker stated that ?overwhelming pressure? from potential customers led it to change its mind. How overwhelming? Well, three orders have already been placed for the car. Two of them are said to come from a high-profile and well-respected member of Dubai society.
?The Juke-R was originally intended as a one-off concept to marry two of Nissan?s most innovative models. But the reaction we had to the car in Dubai was amazing ? people were making offers for the original on the street!? said Gareth Dunsmore, the marketing product manager for the Juke.
Juke-R production will be extremely limited and the car will be built to order. It is estimated that no more than 20 examples will be built. Production of the first three models is already underway and they are scheduled to be delivered this coming summer.
Nissan did not comment on how much the Juke-R will cost, saying only that its price will be set ?very high.? EVO estimates that it will be priced in the vicinity of ?125,000, which converts to about $202,000.
The road-going version of the Juke-R will be powered by the updated 540 horsepower variant of the GT-R?s twin-turbocharged engine.
By comparison, the concept was rated at 485 horsepower, which was already enough to propel it from zero to 62 miles per hour in just 3.7 seconds, and on to a track-worthy top speed of 160 miles per hour.
To coincide with the announcement of the Juke-R?s launch, Nissan has released a short film called ?Desert Nemesis.? The six-minute long film features the Juke-R racing against a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, a Lamborghini Gallardo and a Ferrari 458 Italia at the Dubai International Marine Club.
The movie ends with a paragraph-long explanation of how the filming was carried out. At one point it says that ?the Juke-R is a concept car with a Nissan GT-R engine and is not available for retail sale.? The movie must have been made before Nissan decided to produce the car as that is evidently not the case anymore.

I suspect that this is probably going to be the most "tasteful" car those two people will own.
Gross.
Should have called it the "Nissan Power Puke".
$200000??
I can't believe people are willing to pay 2x for a slower, uglier GTR...
I welcome this model. Fast AND hilarious.
If Nissan actually put in some effort and made more than 20, they could probably get this far under the GT-R in terms of price. As it is though, this thing is still pretty fucking bonkers and totally one of the coolest cars out there. Yall just haters.
If the headlights were redesigned to be more tasteful, this car would be great looking. I think this is really cool.
What bothers me most about this car is not the car itself, but the fact that Nissan thinks this is a better idea than making a 560Z

The headlights themselves are pretty are tasteful. It's the turn signals up high that are the problem (the headlights are in the middle)
For example, this one would be fine if the upper lighting were shaved off:

What's cool about selling a few cars to a bunch of bored Dubai billionaires? Cool is building something fun and affordable to people who weren't born into oil money.
I'd like one without changes to the standard Juke's brakes/wheels/tires/body.

Not gonna lie, the fact that this has gone to production has made it much more appealing to me

Making a design unique isn't worth jack if it's still ugly as hell. I'd rather have something a little less edgy (or whatever you want to call it) if that means it doesn't look like a 13 year old designed it. I'm also aware that style is subjective so I don't fault you for liking it... I just don't get it at all.
That said, this Juke-R idea makes very little sense. I think there should be a mandatory pysch eval on anyone willing to pay $200,000 for this thing.

The Juke R can be yours in the US for a mere 590,000 dollars.
http://www.insideline.com/nissan/juke/build-to-order-nissan-juke-r-will-be-offered-in-us-from-around-590000.html
Anyway, it's built to order, so they will only build as many as there are buyers for, and with a price of 590,000 I doubt they won't make some pocket change on each one.
Never underestimate the allure of exclusivity.

Quote from: sportyaccordy on May 04, 2012, 06:31:36 AM

No the Juke R is actually around 150 pounds heavier. 3980 vs 3829
http://wot.motortrend.com/juke-r-specs-revealed-nissan-claims-world%E2%80%99s-fastest-crossover-0-62-mph-in-3-7-seconds-156337.html
Some of that is indeed the roll cage and stuff, but the prototypes didn't have a production ready full interior either.
So that puts into some perspective of the weight of the GT-R drivetrain and suspension components. The regular Juke w/ AWD weighs 3146 pounds, and the front wheel drive Juke weighs 2912 pounds. The GT-R drive train components weigh about 1000 pounds more than the Juke stock components.
When the GT-R was released I remember Nissan saying they really made alot of effort to keep the weight down. But the thing was still 3900 pounds, and I wondered if they were just exaggerating. But looking at the Juke R weight now, if you took a Nissan GT-R body and put in a 1.6 turbo with AWD, you would end up with a 3000 pound 183 inch long coupe, with AWD. So really the GT-R despite its large appearance is a pretty reasonably light body, packing a monstrously heavy drivetrain and wheel/brake/suspension package.
The Juke R isn't better than a GT-R in any way, except a little bit more room. But the Juke isn't packaged very well, so it's not like driving a Suburban that's as fast as a GT-R. It's interesting, but I'll take a GT-R over it every time.

People are dumping on 2o6 but he's right. People have the right to their preferences but people also have the right to their opinions. In my opinion lusting for a Jetta and writing off a Scion solely because of the badge, despite the Scion being the better car by a landsline in the context of this forum, is stupid as hell. People derive self worth from the image they think they project, I get that. That is a huge part of why I got the bike. But folks who drive Jettas are no "cooler" than folks who drive Scions. The demographics overlap for a lot of the models.

Its a design that looks like something, unlike many dull cars on the market.
I was pretty disappointed after I drove it. Not as good to drive as striking as it looks.
Yes, it looks like something: It looks like a background prop from a second rate sci-fi movie, or perhaps a rejected design from the Hot wheels people.
Also, it looks like they had three different design teams working on the headlights: and they all won!

What "vast" negativity surrounds the Miata?
It's a girls car, it's a chick car, it's a car for gays.
It means nothing, the car is one of the automotive performance, enthusiast, and driving enjoyment cornerstones that many of you guys own, aspire to own, and enjoy to drive. (I enjoyed the NB I drove)

I guess I'm the guy to block now. But your post is the point I am driving at. In context with performance, WHY would you turn your nose up at something great, because you don't like the connotations the name has? From what I've read, the Scion/Toyota variant is more enjoyable than the the Subaru variant. WHY would you turn that down?
I don't particularly care for VW as of late. However, although I lambasted the Jetta's 2.5L in another thread, I still liked the rest of the car. Despite the girly connotations of the Jetta and even the Beetle, I would still rock one if I thought it would serve my needs. My Yaris has a pretty dull and girly reputation, and many of you guys didn't like it (Including myself, until I drove it). Yet that didn't stop me from buying one.
Many of you guys harp on people for buying BMW's simply for the badge and not the driving enjoyment part, but in this thread, you're worse than they are. Usually people who buy BMW's for the badge do so for the luxury goods the products offer, not the status of the badge.

That's not far from the truth.
Heck, the Neon has probably a worse stigma associated with it than the Miata does, yet I STILL bought one because people told me it drove well. And out of all the cars I have driven, the Neon still has a special place in my heart, despite all the problems it had. That car was a blast.

Your company must love them.

My plant doesn't deal with Nissan, but maybe they do in Japan. I know they do in Ohio.
