Fuck this segment.

Why is this a thing? And when can we expect a 4-series GT and X4?
What the hell is the point!? It isn't rakish or low at alll.... it looks just like a 3-series GT!

The front looks good, but it will probably start at like 70K for a 428XiPureEfficencyDrive Xawd GT.
While trying to call it a coupe is silly, I'm all for there being more options -- in this case, BMW buyers get to choose between the more practical 3-Series and more stylish 4-Series sedan, rather than either type of buyer needing to make a compromise (or taking their money elsewhere).

There's a 4-series BMW?

3-series coupe = 4-series.
It is being suggested that it will cost £5000 model for model more than the equivalent 4 Series, which is more costly than a 3 Series.......... that is a very profitable trick if you can pull it off. But it does suggest that it will be significantly more costly than the Audi A5 Sportback.
The other luxury makes probably wish they could pull off profitable variants of their standard cars like BMW apparently can.
So this is the car I've been seeing in camouflage over the last few months...
Only good thing about this is they might make a M235i gran coupe
Cannot figure out if it's intended to look sporty or luxurious or even brutish (SUV-like) -- thinking they took the worst aspects of each and glued the parts together. There's nothing consistent about its design theme, IMO. It looks, chunky, even bulbous -- depending on angle. But... Will it see? After all, it's all about profit, even before image, I'm beginning to think. Image and profit should go hand-in-hand, especially in this field.
Hey, a 3 series!
WTF? I thought the 4 series was 2 door only. If a 4 series has 4 doors, then it's a 3 series.
It'll cost less than the coupe or about the same. Pricing won't be that crazy on this one. And it's a hatch.
It looks really good.

The 6 Gran Coupe is several thousand more than the regular 6. I'd expect the same of the 4 Gran Coupe relative to the standard 4 (which is in turn several thousand more than a comparable 3er).
Seems pointless, and I don't like the whole 4 series thing.
K.I.S.S.
1 series - 2/4 door hatch, 2 door coupe, 4 door sedan
3 series - same
5 series - coupe, sedan
6 series - 5 series coupe - I guess
7 series - sedan, short and long wheelbase
8 series - bring it back, dump the 6 series if you have to
Don't know why the above scenario wasn't enough for bmw. The 4 series is pointless, the gt stuff is trash.

Nope. It's official.
BMW says the 4-series Gran Coupe follows the concept of the 6-series Gran Coupe, which is essentially a reskinned 5-series sold at a nearly $25,000 premium. We are certainly glad that the Bavarians didn't elect to charge a similar amount for the 4-series Gran Coupe. At $41,225 for the 428i and $46,725 for the 435i, they're $3000 and $2400 dearer than their 3-series counterparts.
I've heard that this is for emerging market buyers who are very conscious of status and the fact that larger numbers are socially superior to lesser numerals.

I think they should sell it then as the 11-Series.
8 series, 8 is lucky.
It is silly, but damn if it doesn't look good

Isn't the number 4 deemed unlucky in China?
Ha, yeah, you're right. "Si" resembles "death".
Like all new BMW's (and new cars in general) this looks terrible, and I'm sure it will drive like it. Glad the 235M is coming.

Actually they are probably thinking of America.
Bigger number = fancier car.
Jokes on them though, most american's can't count passed the letter D.
I like it better than the 3. Its more interesting.
