Seat has unveiled the new Arona crossover at a special event in Barcelona.

Set to slot beneath the Ateca, the Arona is a compact crossover which features a bold front fascia with a slender grille that is flanked by triangular headlights. The model also has a large air intake, plastic body cladding, and faux aluminum accents on the bumpers. Other highlights include LED taillights, a contrasting roof, and a tailgate-mounted spoiler.

The interior is a bit plain but comes nicely equipped with a three-spoke steering wheel, metallic accents, and controls that are angled towards the driver. A variety of different options will available including a wireless smartphone charger, a rearview camera, and an infotainment system with an eight-inch display.

Speaking of options, the Arona can be equipped with an assortment of safety features including Blind Spot Detection, Rear Traffic Alert, and Adaptive Cruise Control. Other assistance functions include Front Assist, Multi-Collision Braking, and Park Assistance.

A variety of engine will be available including a 1.0-liter TSI three-cylinder which has outputs of 95 PS (70 kW) and 115 PS (84 kW). The Arona FR, on the other hand, comes equipped with an exclusive four-cylinder engine developing 150 PS (110 kW).

On the diesel side, there's a 1.6-liter TDI engine with outputs of 95 (70 kW) and 115 PS (84 kW). Certain markets will also receive a 1.6-liter MPI engine with 110 PS (80 kW). The engines will eventually be joined by a 1.0-liter TSI three-cylinder which produces 90 PS (66 kW) and can run on compressed natural gas (CNG).

As far as sub-compact SUVs go this one is relatively pleasant looking though, seems to have a lot of leg room at the back, and even though it is basic transportation, can be had with things like a leather covered dash, and full LED headlights.

I am loosing track about how all of these SUVs are positioned though, at least with something like Q2,Q3,Q4,Q5, one had a somewhat good idea.

Haha, that is exactly how my brain reacts when I hear about their cars.

(I don't mean it in a derogatory way FWIW, basically Pontiac = Sporty Chevy, Seat = Sporty VW in my mind).

Interesting lines.  Not as offensive looking as most.
