Title: Car flies off bridge, kills pedestrians
Post by: AutobahnSHO on November 24, 2019, 07:35:52 PM
I've always wondered if concrete barriers would actually stop a car.

WARNING: multiple camera angles, the latter ones show people getting hit. (I'm surprised this is still up!)

Looks like the barrier was pretty unscathed...but the car just rode up and over it like a ramp.

Yeah the barrier is not very high and angled like a ramp. Very bad design.

I pretty much yearly go to San Diego for a conference in Coronado.  Every time I drive on the Coronado Bridge, I'm white knuckle gripped on the steering wheel.  It seems so easy to fly off the bridge.

Lol I was there in '94 on a RIMPAC exercise with our CP-140 (P3 Orion). I was driving a Chevy Astro rental van across that bridge and the wind certainly made me pucker up.
