Title: Accord is trying to die :(
Post by: VTEC_Inside on December 07, 2006, 09:19:16 PM
Carb is leaking fuel out the float adjustment screw...

Car is parked until I can get a new top hat gasket and a new adjuster screw or new o rings for the one on it...

This royally sucks ass... Hopefully I can get parts quick because the weather is supposed to be a bit nicer here over the next couple days.

I've gone through the motions on my "parts carb" in the basement and it should be pretty easy, but the pin the float pivots on was a beeyatch to remove.

Sigh....  :banghead:

Just out of curiosity, why do you keep that car around when you have the RSX?  Emotional attachment?

Pretty much, and that it keeps the RSX out of the salt.

There really isnt all that much wrong with it for the most part. This carb thing is the most serious in a long time. I'll probably end up taking it off the road next year, but I'd like to do that with it in running order.

New top hat gasket, adjustment screw (with new o rings), and float (just for the pivot pin just in case) have been ordered, $80CAD.

$35 of that is the float which I don't need, but I may damage the pivot pin and that can't be ordered seperately. Other brightside is that removing the pin is a bitch, but could be much easier if I break part of the existing float. I'll have to see if it comes to that.

Parts will arrive Monday which is good because we are supposed to have warmer weather Sun-Tues. Should be fun... not...

Lol... Technically I could drive it as is, but I'd be investing in a fire extinguisher first.

Top hat is off and cleaned up awaiting the new parts.

The hardest part is over and went suprisingly well.

Tell that to my motor...it seized a piston and took out my whole bottom end.

I figure the odds of such a catastrophic failure occuring TWICE in the same car are unlikely...but yea, Hondas definitely break.

Heres a couple pics of a K20 with a factory defect:

Its back together and running without a fuel leak again.

Not much if any improvement in the way its running though.
