Title: Maserati GranTurismo

The new Maserati GranTurismo, styled by Pininfarina, makes its worldwide debut at the Geneva Motorshow.

The Maserati GranTurismo is a muscular and sporty car, that can be enjoyed every day and at the same time is engaging for the driver. Its excellent handling and sportiveness makes it a point of reference in its category. The Maserati GranTurismo is built with particular attention to comfort, choice of materials and details and with enough room for four people, as only Maserati can do.

The new Maserati GranTurismo is a high-performance sports car, exciting to drive with a 4.2 liter V8 engine, delivering 405 HP, and a weight distribution of 49% at the front and 51% at the rear. It is fitted with an automatic gearbox and equipped with an adaptive control system which adjusts the gear-shifting mode to the driving style and the driving conditions.

Maserati's tradition of the Gran Turismo concept dates back to 1947 when the Trident Company, following its clients' demand, unveiled at the Geneva Motorshow its first Gran Turismo, the A6, designed by the great Pinin Farina. It was the first Maserati road car and was produced in 58 units. The car was acclaimed by the automotive press for its advanced technical content and for its avant-garde style solutions.

The new model name - Maserati GranTurismo - is not incidental. Once again, the partnership between Maserati and Pininfarina gives birth to a car that is able to generate emotions and sets itself apart from competitors, due to the technique with which it is built and its unique style.

The new Maserati GranTurismo represents a further step towards the completion of the Trident product range, following the worldwide launch of the Quattroporte Automatic at the 2007 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

Me too; it looks like a more-aggressive, 2-door Quattroporte.

Very attractive.  I am wondering what kind of power to weight ratio this car will end up with...

Please God, let it weigh under 3,800 lbs. and have a 6 speed manual option.

Don't get me wrong, I'd still take this over that.  It doesn't look Italian anymore, but it does look amazing.

Turning Japanese I really think so? Perhaps Korean?

In any case it looks good. I'm sure it will be gorgeous in person. It makes the old one look slab and dated.

Looks like the last Maser coupe mixed with a Jag XK and beat with an ugly stick.

I love everything except for the Japanese Angry Eyes headlights, which kind of turn me off from the whole car.

is this replacing the current Maserati Coupe? Im guessing it is. I like it a lot very agressive and sporty. They could improve the headlights. more like the mc12 would be good (awesome looking car). Not bad though

LonghornTX:? I have some info for you over in The Fast Lane topics under that Saleen Parnelli Jones Edition Mustang vs the '70 Trans Am champion Boss 302 thread.? Specifically, a source for some Minilite-replica 3-piece wheels.

This Maserati Gran Turismo looks like an early Aston Martin Vanquish or Vantage mock-up that got rejected for the design that IS the Vanquish or the Vantage.? I see Vanquish/Vantage all through the design, but every panel doesn't look as good as the same panels do on a Vanquish/Vantage...

I might have to take this back.  It might be the massive amounts of cough medicine speaking, but the more I see it, the more I like it.  Still the small Italian I'd take over a Ferrari 430.

Fancy me insane, and it's probably just the fever medicine talking but I'm starting to really like it, too.  I'm in love with poor man's Ferraris.

Exterior looks like something the Japanese (esp. Lexus) makes for concept cars. Interior still seems exotic though

I love it... up until I get to the front and those bulges and Lexus IS headlights.

Sweet!

I see a lot of Aston Martin in that first picture.

Strange.  People see bits and pieces of Brits and Asians in this thing.  I'm only seeing a classic Pininfarina design with traditional Maserati flair.  And I love it.

Side profile defenitely not its strength.

Although you rarely get that kind of view in real life unless you're really short.

I wasn't. It's a beautiful car IMO but the straight-on side profile isn't that great to me. Although like I said, no one ever really sees that.

I always though that was its best angle

While the new one has grown on me, I would definitely take the old one over it in a heartbeat.  I don't care which model, whether the black "winter beater" from my pic to the spyder--I love them all.  In my mind, Maserati can do no wrong as long as the cars don't begin to look too Toyota-ish.

The first one I ever saw in person looked like this one at our local used exotic car dealership back home, and I fell in love with it.  It's in my top 10 cars I'd own if I could afford them.

It's grown on me since, what, the past week and a half?? I agree up until those headlights.? Take a look at older Maserati's, and it's actually a fairly good adaptation of the old, classic Maserati on a modern palette.? I hate those damn headlights though.

Quite a pretty thing.? I like the older car a lot though.? Now THAT'S one of the classics of our time.? Expect it at Pebble Beach after it has aged a couple.? Sporty, sexy, elegant.? "Rolling sex" is the perfect description.? Magnifico!

I like it. Looks like a two door quattroporte from the side. I think it'll look sexy in black.

The headlights are the only thing I need to get used to, but DAYUM.

I like it.
