Pick which one.

'88-'98.  I had one.  The interior was downright offensive, but it was a good truck.

I picked '73-87 because it's fairly badass for a truck.  How did GM manage to keep it in production for so long?

'03-'06 shouldn't be seperate, IMO.

-New front end
-New rear end
-New models
-New engine options

Why not? :praise:

I wasn't aware they offered new engines.

A new front end, tail lights, steering wheel, and XM radio hardly makes the truck all new. Plus they made similar changes back in the 90's and you didn't count those as seperate models.

But enough nitpicking...I'd take the '99-'02 in 2WD regular cab shortbox form and give it to my dad since he needs a new truck.

I'm not aware of new engines either.

'88-'98. I still maintain that, considering it's time, it's the greatest line of pickup trucks ever made.

I'm not aware of new engines either.

6.0, in the '03 Silverado SS, and in any extended or crew cab Silverado in '06. They also introduced a flex-fuel 5.3 and upgraded power on the 5.3.

And there were significant cosmetic differences. If you want to get nit-picky, the fender flares on Z71's were different too. Plus, the crew cab came out in '04.

My dad still has his 78. The door are rusting but that's a common problem with them.

80s.  I love them all, but I have a gut-level affection for the old K-10.

Until recently, people only bought trucks because they needed trucks, and didn't worry a heck of a lot about what they looked like or how recently they'd been updated or how the dashboard felt.

After some deliberation, I picked the '03-'06. The new one is just too refined for me.

And back then trucks didn't cost so much too.

Even with the billboard they used for a dashboard, I agree that they were great trucks.  They were definitely better then the Fords and Dodges from the same time until Ford introduced the new F-150 in 1997.
