I hadn't heard of this one before...http://money.cnn.com/2017/08/01/autos/ford-mustang-quiet-mode/index.html

Ford adds a 'mute' button for the Mustang's noisy V8

Are your neighbors irked by your noisy, rumbling Ford Mustang? The new "Quiet" mode available on the 2018 Mustang GT could bring peace and harmony to your block.

12,000 RPM

What is it going to weigh though is the real question

Are there any new 6 cylinder cars that weigh less than 3000lb?

Considering the current one weighs just shy of 3500 with the 6 and over 3200 with the 4 banger, not holding my breath for a sub 3000 replacement.

But BMW has been playing with mass production carbon fiber, and Toyota's last sports car project came in well under 3000 with a dedicated platform. I think it's a long shot, but possible.

Toyota also built the RC, which somehow managed to be as heavy as the larger GS sedan.  Or the LC, which manages to weigh well over 2 tons despite extensive use of aluminum and carbon fiber.

Yea but those were built off an existing sedan platform. If they go from scratch or use the Freeze Breeze platform I think they can possibly do it.

The frisbee was never designed to be a convertible.  By the time they add all of the bracing needed to stiffen it back up, plus the weight of BMW's turbo 6 and the level of sound deadening material befitting a BMW, it will easily exceed 3000 lbs.

That's not the market they are going for

Although, it looks like a soft top, thank goodness.

Actually, I want to get some of that squiggly vinyl wrap, put it on some random POS car from the '90s, drive it around and see if it ends up on Jalopnik or some other site as a spy shot.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

Put it on the wagon.  They will think it's the latest sportwagon from Europe.

Bigger brakes would be a good upgrade, but it sounds like it needs a looser stall converter too.
