Here is today's order of operations on a Chebby truck with 300K

1. Customer wants me to replace transmission. Done. Good to go.
2. Won't start because battery is dead dead and the cables are junk. Replace batt and cable ends.
3. Fuel line starts leaking. Fix that.
4. Rad hose starts leaking. Fixed.
5. Finally take for test drive. Previously suspected sloppy U-joint is definitely junk. Replaced that.
6. Oh, and the shifter cable fell off on the test drive, and it won't stay on. Replacing that requires taking apart half of the interior. Okay, fine.
7. While trying to snap the new cable on, the cast aluminum shifter mechanism just breaks apart.
8. What's next? Any guesses?

Sounds like the repairs are going to cost more than the truck is workth.

But seriously, it never ceases to amaze me how some people insist on trying to keep a dying vehicle going.

U sure U wanna give a kid a minivan?

Well it's about the money and transportation.
1- We bought the newer minivan this year and thus had extra minivan.
2- Size-wise Impreza would be better learner car but also worth 3-4x as much
3- any kid car will be in ex's driveway more than ours,
4- needed to keep 2x regular cars for us (Miata just can't take family)
5- I didn't want to keep 2x minivans. I'd like different sized/ purpose vehicles if I'm keeping several.

So sure, minivan isn't greatest first car ever but we're only out about $500 or so as ex paid us $500 for it. If it gets smashed up no huge loss, it has 245k miles but still quite dependable for in-town car. Hopefully kids won't be makin' babies for at LEAST 3-5 more years....

Doesn't matter. That age, kids will do freaky shit in a single cab Ford Ranger. The minivan will just help prevent injuries.

I have a 15 gallon DeWalt air compressor at the shop. Plenty for zipping off lug nuts and filling tires. But today I am detailing a Harley and am using it to blow water out of all the nooks and crannies...it runs down air pretty quick and is annoying to listen to.

Is connecting, say, a 60-gallon tank to the 15 gallon unit a thing so I can increase my resevoir?

Yeah, Rangers are pretty dangerous. For that matter, so are Samurais.

How would I connect them properly?

DeWart tool takeoff regulator wide open > air hose > big tank > regulator for toolz off of big tank?  Or would the DeWart tank pressure regulator get confused by that.

Just plug it in where you normally plug in your air hose. It will still fill up with air.

Just either in-line, with a t-fitting; before or after the regulator is fine. The system will equalize.

But, the compressor could overheat pressurizing both tanks from scratch. Just watch it the first few times.

Well. Now that I look, standalone air tanks are still pretty expensive. So I'll probably just deal with it. lol

Yeah, a 60- gallon tank on a 15-gallon compressor might be pushing it. Add a cooling system!

One of my jobs is a 2009 Hybrid Escape. It needs a new High Voltage Traction Battery. Ford acronym HVTB. It's not warranty. Cost for just the part, not including installation labor?        $10.5K.  Holy crap on a cracker.

wut.

My Bolt's 60 kwh battery pack is $15k, apparently. But that's way bigger than a little hybrid battery.

The Ford system is pretty much the same as the Prius/Highlander setup, but with a Ford motor instead of a Toyota one.

I wonder if the traction battery from a Prius would be interchangeable.

I hate it when I run around all day doing piddly shit.
Change light bulbs because tire techs can't.
Get ID numbers off this transmission.
Clear this check engine light but it's not a diag.
Diag an airbag light but don't fix it.

She had to leave it overnight otherwise she wouldn't be able to accuse you of driving half-way across the country and back. I imagine she was hoping to get you to wave the cost of repairs and offer her a free tank of gas.
