Ok.  Sounds just like the backseat of a Mustang.  The 335i's backseat handled me with no trouble behind the driver without him moving the seat forward.

I can fit comfortably in the back seats of both the E30 and E36 coupes.  Beat that!
2. 1995 Saturn SL2 5-speed, 126,500 miles. 5,000 miles in two and a half months. That works out to 24,000 miles per year if I can keep up the pace.

Believe me, the 3er's back seat really isn't that small.  If you've ever sat in the back of any compact coupe, the size disparity isn't much, if any, at all.  An E30 or 36 has more room than any modern Mustang, RSX, Civic, or lots of other cars.  It does, however, make the Porsche's back seat look like it was put there because they wanted insurance to be cheaper as a GT rather than a sports car.  The Porsche's seat is completely useless.

Most people are.

I haven't been in the back of a Porsche since the 964.  That, to be honest, still was tight when I was 10!

You seem to be missing the point, I am using the Prelude as a point of reference for the practicality of the 911. The Prelude is practical enough for me, so I imagine the 911 would be practical enough too.

The 'Lude is far more practical than a Porsche 911.  Trust me.

I wouldn't call the 911 impractical; just not as practical as the Bimmer for the price.  But then again, you're not paying for practicality when you buy a 911, you're paying for a Porsche.

I don't understand why some of you guys are so concerned about the size of the rear seats? Since when do you ever ride in the rear of your own car? I love not having a rear seat. I never have to spend gas money when me and my friends go anywhere.

IMHO opinion this poll is totally useless. Best car at any price should be an open vote. Of course the 911 is the better car here (as it should, for the price). But meaningless. Why don't we have an F430 here? Or many other better cars than the 911?

IMHO the 335i is the best price/luxury/performance buy here and the Vette is the best price/pure performance buy.

Now, the 335i is easily the most improved of these three compared to the previous model and in my opinion, more thouroughly dominates its own category than the other two. So, I voted 335i.

When I've been too lazy to drive, I've ridden in the back seat of my car several times and I do actually almost care about the people who sit behind me when I'm driving.  Usually, whover sits behind me has it good.  It's the person who has to sit behind the taller person who gets the raw deal.

Raza, I'm well aware for your love of all things Porsche, but you're never going to convince me there's room back there. In a 996, you can literally make the rear seats unfunctionable by moving the fronts to the back of their tracks, at which point, the front seat makes contact with the one behind it.

At that point, the rear seats in a 911 cease to exist. They become a storage bench.

Depending on price, that could be a good deal.

You can do that in any car.

I'm not saying it's an incredibly comfortable place to be, but in a pinch, you can put some people back there.  1, maybe two.  Three if they're dead and you're keen.

No you can't. Almost every car will allow you to lower the back of the front seat until it touches the rears, true, but the 911 is the only car I've ever seen that you could move the entire front assembly rearward until all the leg-space in the back vanished. Literally vanished.?

Again, it's a point I've seen Porsche constantly made-fun of for. You're just rationalizing.

And don't get me wrong, It's a great feature to have, because it means the driver and front passenger enjoy unlimited leg-room.

The rear seat in a 911 is still more spacious than one in an SC430.
