I don't see anything rice with the gold BMW either.

M badge. Otherwise, I actually like it.

I know it's a Kyron.  I'm just saying that I'm amazed the Stavic seats 9.

Stavic? That's a Kyron.

And it's stock.

It's ugly as fuck; that's what it is.

I don't care about all that shit.  I'll be going to college to get an education at a cost to my parents.  I'm not going to fool around.

They seem to have changed that:

Wow, that's pretty. Why is it not sold here? Is Ssangyong still a Daewoo partner or what?

Ssangyong is now owned by SAIC. It's also a tad bit small. Think Nissan Juke, but not ugly.

That was the first modern Korando. It's amazingly ugly. Before that, they were all licensed CJs.

Including a pre-Unlimited Unlimited. Yes, we got the shaft once again for another 20 years. But it's an interesting piece of history.

That Ssangyong Kyron was not stock. He had some weird external lighting systems on the exterior, some weird bumper (front and rear) modifications and a bunch of other non-stock features.

Still doesn't change the fact that this truck is ugly as shit to begin with.  :tounge:

More rice (and some just plain crappy modifications) from Munich. It's alarming how many riced BMW 7-Series there are here.  :mask:

I seriously see nothing wrong with that technoViolet 3 series.

Christian, it's time to stop smoking that crack. it's making you insanely closed minded and limited in vision.
Like a fine Detroit wine, this vehicle has aged to budgetary perfection...

I saw some Eastern European rice earlier this week....

Hella fog lights for offroading :wtf:
Fender badges: 6.3 AMG motor badge, Kompressor badge, AMG badge :wtf: wtf:

I seriously wonder what goes through the minds of people who undertake such dubious automotive endeavors.

I'm not a fan of the setup (color, body kit etc.). Besides, I see so little "real rice" here I have to post this "light modification" stuff just to be able to compete with others here.

My junior year, I encountered an "S65" which was in actuality a 00'-02' S430 with poorly aligned quad exhaust tips, tacky looking wheels, etc.  I left him a note on his windshield "Nice S430 ;-) " but he was probably too stupid to figure it out.

How'd you know it wasn't an S500 :P

With the downright abysmal depreciation of Benzes bringing old W220s into the $10K range, it's only gonna get worse. I can't wait to see how bad it gets

S204STi

There was a kid I used to see at work who drove a 2008 2.5I Impreza with spray painted 16" wrx wheels circa 2005, one of those stupid looking JDM Tite mufflers that come out at a wonky angle, and a bunch of "rally" effects like RallyArmor mud flaps and miscellaneous chassis braces. I find that to be pretty tacky. That's how I would define rice; tasteless mods that do little to nothing to enhance actual performance; or labelling/badging a car as being something it isn't like WRX or STI badges on cars that don't even break 200hp...

Oh dear, that would be pretty much every other Impreza. It's true, Subaru is the new Rice. :(

The S500 came standard with headlamp washers.  A quick scan of the inside revealed no such button to control them (located to the right of the headlamp knob).

Those cars are still extremely expensive to fix - even if one goes to a local mechanic and skimps on as much as possible, Air Suspension, wiring harness's COMAND, etc - they all run thousands of dollars.

But yes, they have become "Ghetto Cruisers" as my friend refers to them - a good 2/3rds of those driving around in the city have tacky chrome bits, gaudy wheels, portholes () etc.  What a pity.

The Airmatic is really pretty easy to fix on your own.  Took about an hour on my buddy's S500.  Got a rebuilt shock that addresses the weaknesses that the standard shock has.  Got it for $600.

Colonel Cadillac

Yup, when my friend had his S500, it had ~70,0000 miles on it and within the first two-three months, he had to spend something like $4000 getting various stuff fixed. Not cheap in the slightest.

I wonder if it's possible to change back to conventional shocks.

I'm not scared of mechanical bits... I am pretty good at the cheap parts game. What worries me about these luxury cars are the needlessly complex electronics. I could see how getting someone to diagnose a problem with COMAND could end up in a huge bill...

I think of "Rice" as adding weight to give the appearance that you removed weight/added performance.

I don't know. I would qualify carbon fiber body parts and lightweight wheels rice if the car is a dog. You can pretty much replace every removable body panel on a Civic with carbon fiber, but at the end of the day if it still has that wheezy 4 banger hooked to a 4 spd auto it's ricey.

COMAND can be expensive, and seeing how outdated the capabilities/UI are (It was designed in 1998, mind you, a year before COMAND equipped cars hit European streets) it's almost not worth it to fix.  I've seen a few cases where people replace the COMAND head unit with an aftermarket one, but 99% of the time, it looks terrible.

My dads friend had a 2002 S500 which he purchased with 25k on the clock - at 45k, the entire wiring harness needed to be replaced.  Although his Mercedes warranty covered the warranty, it was still out of commission for two weeks and would have cost him 9k if it wasn't covered.  It has 125k on it right now and hasn't had a single problem since...
