It looks good enough that it looks like it was meant to be a convertible.

Raza

Looks pretty decent.  I'd take one over a Z4, most likely, but there's no way you can fit human beings in the back of that.

Now there's no point in getting a 3er cabrio.

Except for the fact that the E92 is drop-dead sexy, and this is not.

The E92 Cabrio is ~3,900 lbs too.

The 3er CC is hideous.  Clearly you've never seen one.

And no, this isn't one of those "the 3 series is hideous" things.  The 3CC is way worse than even the coupe.

Not bad. I don't love the 1 series a whole lot, but that's not bad for a small convertible.

You're my age.  We're getting old.  Plus, now that you're married, your life expectancy has gone way down, since you're more likely to be poisoned by your wife.

The thing with the 1 series is going to come down to price.

If you actually want to put people in it, the 1 series isn't going to do, so you'll need to get the 3er.  If you're not going to put people in it, then you could just get the Z4.  The 1er will be a little more practical than the Z4, but I'm not so sure about dynamics.  People have said before that the Z4 isn't so great (the M version gets the most criticism), and the 1 series has taken some flak as well.  I mean, I'd stick with the 128i coupe, but I can see why someone would go for the drop.

I took this pic a month ago. I think it's fucking sexy.

I think you're fucking blind.

However, I will say this.  That's a very flattering photo of the car.  It's like a Facebook picture.  Makes it look better than it really is.

In reality, the roof is too flat and doesn't jive with the rest of the car.  And, when the stupid roof is folded away, it suffers the same fate as most four seater convertibles.  There's nothing going on behind the A pillar, and the car looks flat and endless.  The only four seats that get around it today are the Saab 9-3 and the Porsche 911.

The 3er is almost officially irrelevant to me now.  I really like the 1er.

I love that this is a convertible, with a fabric roof. Looks good, too.

Right.  And the Porsche 911 also drives on water and turns low-grade gasoline into fine wine.

I like the coupe, not so much with the 'vert. We'll all have to see the "value" equation and esthetics when it hits the states...

Not too bad, but I'll think I'll stick to the coupe as my DD and have a Miata for the weekend.

BTW, Trep, that's an astonishingly good picture of the 3er cabrio. I'm a huge fan of the 3 series, both sedan and coupe, but the cabrio with the top up looks like ass in every other picture I've seen and in person. It just doesn't flow the like the coupe does. But I'd just consider it encouragement to put the top down.

The 1-convertible is ugly. Coupe seems like it will be nice.

Have to see it in person though.

The 3 coupe is sexi. Raza is crazy  :nutty:

Looks good, if a little stubby with the top up. But I LOVE the 3 series cabrio, top up or down. They managed to retain the sweep of the coupe roofline, including the hoffmeister kink. In person, it's dead sexy.

I don't see how the back is too long...
