"Unfortunately this is the only shot I could get. The metal strip on the rear, and all is fake. It has a completely different rear shape. The car overall appears less bulbous, and more sleek. The front was the best part. Although heavily disguised, I could make out the Concept CS style headlamps and grille...so maybe it wasn't the next 7-series but the production version of the CS."

FWIW, the most recent S-Class isn't that great looking of a car either, IMO.  I loved the W140, and I even liked the W220 a lot.  This W221, though, it's not really doing anything for me, styling wise.  If I was going to buy a large, luxury sedan on styling merit alone, it'd be the A8.

After you wake up with the sun at 6am on someone's floor, coughing up cigarette butts and tasting like warm beer, you may well change your opinion on this matter.

Either the A8 or XJ for me.  Realistically, I wouldn't buy a car that large (I'd stop at something E class sized), though.

2nd!  The old W220 S Class looked stunning.  The new one just looks confused.  Droopy butt, dorky fender flares? No thanks. Let's hope BMW removes the curses of the old 7er.

People seem to love the W221 though.  I don't get it myself.

It's a BARGE!!!

I still love the one from the mid-80s. Nothing says old money like a 420SEL, or old drug money like a 560SEC, with the AMG kit :ohyeah:

The W220s are dirt cheap now. You can get a CL500 for about $35K

It's bold. It has much more road presence than the 220. People who want something more understated buy LS460's  :praise:

What part of "JUST KIDDING" don't you understand?

And the W221 is hot. I thought it was FUGLY when I saw it in the pictures, but when I saw it in real life I was blown away. When I testdrove it, I was willing to give both my nuts to own one. Such a friggin awesome car.

I admit I've never test driven one, but I've seen one in person.  It was a black V12 model (Actually, I think it was at the Boston GTG; in the parking garage when we went to dinner, if any of you guys remember that.).  Anyways, I'm still not impressed.  Mercedes took a step backwards (styling-wise) with that car, if you ask me.

And interior-wise.  The new interior is sickening compared to the old one.  Design, I mean.  I don't know about the quality.

The W221's are everywhere over here. I've definitely seen over 15, today. That said, IMO, the W220 looks a LOT better.

W220 is my favorite S-Klasse. Then W116. W126. W221. W140. But that's my favorite line of cars so saying that the W140 is my least favorite isn't saying much.

The 221 with the sport package is quite good looking.

Although, the new XJ is absolutly stunning.  One of the best looking saloons made in quite some time.

The W221 looks worlds better than the W220. The only thing I don't like about the exterior styling is the huge fender bulges. The W220 looked outdated the day they stopped production.

Every other generation still looks incredible though.

Styling is always subjective. I think the W221 is hot. I can't look at the W220 S-Class anymore. It's bland and boring compared to the W221, so I feel. The W220 lacked road presence, the W221 has it in abundance.  :ohyeah:

Can't wait to see the new 7 in finished form. Could be quite a stunner, buthen again, could just be a rehash of the current one.

I still think the E38 was the last truly attractive 7 series (I don't say that because I have one, I have one because I think that...)
Like a fine Detroit wine, this vehicle has aged to budgetary perfection...
