Automatic transmission?  Didn't think Ford had them back then.

I'm guessing that's typo

Not in those. Until the F-series came along in '48, Ford trucks pretty much unchanged since '42. Everything between was military only.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

Typo. Probably an un-syncro 3 speed, which would be perfect.

That paint looks sick. Too far with the stupid halo headlights, though.

Jesus, those Grumman vans go for $2-4000. What a joke.

It would be a sweet van for $3K. I wonder how much it can tow.

They're basically a 1-ton GMC dually underneath.

I briefly thought about getting some. Then I realized they look horrible on classic cars.

Not a particularly comfortable looking seat/chair.  You might fall sideways going around corner at any speed.

That a self regulating system. A better chair, you'd take that corner fast enough to tip the whole damn thing.

Peep the armchair behind it.  Probably not fastened to the floor.

Seems like the best way to get one of those Grumman vans is to buy one with a blown engine and put your own in.

Running ones are way too expensive and way too high of mileage, but once the engine goes, companies offload them cheap.

Yeah. Some are diesels, but they all seem to be designed to take a 350 and a 700R4 no sweat.

I was tempted to buy a perfectly running one a few years ago for $1800.

The Mr. Bean door locking system is a nice touch.

A quick browse of the ads up now says that was a bargain.

Maybe appreciation for them has grown since. Lots of people getting into hobbies, antiquing and that kind of thing too.

Lol yeah I actually did homework on this. Wife and I were looking into running a food truck at a campsite in the summer, fucking off south for the winter. I can totally see people thinking the same thing, buying up these Grumman vans, only to realize they're going to be spending a small fortune to make it a legal and compliant food truck. Then they get put up for sale again, wash rinse repeat.

CaminoRacer

I think food trailer is a better idea. My buddy has a food truck and it always needs tons of maintenance. A trailer needs far less and you can maintain a regular pickup truck easier.

For a while you could get these awesome little kitchen trailers at government auctions. Little rolling kitchens designed to serve 200-300 soldiers. Would've been a great start for that idea.

This one's been stripped pretty much, but last year you could find them fully equipped:

Basically yeah, but that picture doesn't show it with the canopy out and the railings and steps up. My idea was to make it into a rolling tiki bar.
