As the new owner of an '88 GMC Suburban, you shouldn't be looking at used car ads for another two or three days.

Yeah, well, there was a problem there, see...
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

Shitty time to be out of work. Do you know how rare it is to see an older CJ-5 with the factory wheels? ...Never. This one has a Ford small block. And I can't buy anything right now. Even for $2500 :(

I feel like they should be much cheaper, given what they are.  But since they're basically toys, they can charge a boatload.

The base price is decent but you have to add a lot of stuff

What's base price?  Like 15k?  Not bad for what is essentially a brand-new old-school Jeep.

You can get a real US Gubment-crashed car for that money....  These really should be cheaper.

Why get a used crashed one when you can a brand-new thing with company support for parts/maintenance for the same price?

(devil's advocate)

We can start this debate up again, but some models of the Can Am Maverick start in the low 20's, and can go beyond 30k. I'd love me a $10,000 Roxor, but really it's correctly priced for the market. I could own a decked out one for $23k, and feel good about it.

Now that would be fun.  Sort of like a Gen 1 Bronco.

+1

It's nice to not have to deal with rust, damage, worn-out parts, a previous owner's weird mods or screw ups, etc

those R dumb 2

I meant that the similar car is crash-tested and refined by manufacturer before they sell them. You can get a brand-new crash-worthy car for less than these toys.

Silly that they are so friggin expensive!

I mean, a base Wrangler starts at $28k. You could outfit a Roxor to be just as/more capable for a lot less.

Much better deal than a side-by-side.  :hmm:

I didn't even realize that dual transfer cases were a thing. Based on a 30 second Google search, it sounds like it's basically a sooper-dooper extra low range?

But do you trust the build as much? I have more confidence in Polaris than some backyard builder.

Nice. I'd buy it. Silver Steak 8, inline flathead. Almost bought one of these from an old black gentleman in Kentucky one time. Wish I had it now.

Love those old boats, especially with the 'torpedo' back.
