Looks weird, kind of looks like something Kia would make.

There is an extra zero in the price.

A little high, I'd go $3K on it. Fun little rigs and great offroad.

Beautiful 1970 Chevelle with a clean LSx install but $150k is a bit  rich for my blood.

Total crack pipe. I see a $40,000 restomod. A mint, unmolested '70 Chevelle with the Monroney sticker still on the window wouldn't (shouldn't) crack 6 figures.

GoCougs

$150k is a lot but there is some serious time and $$$ invested there; 4WDB, smoothed firewall, aftermarket AC, custom front suspension, custom interior and the LSX (different and much more expensive than a junkyard LS, esp. if it's the LSX 454).

Also, the collector car market now is completely off the rails.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

Exactly.

I bought new 4Runner.

Because a 2016 with  98,000 miles was going for $35,000.

$150k is crackpipe. It's got more visual mods than real performance mods. The stance is telling me that it hasn't had the protouring suspension upgrades to justify $150k. For that price it needs to be an aftermarket chassis (Roadster Shop, Speedtech, DSE, etc). Forgiato wheels are tacky shit and the steering wheel is the worst I've ever seen. Classy builds have Forgelines or Welds or something like that.

For example, this nicer Chevelle sold for $120k on Bring A Trailer.

'71 is less desirable overall and the '70 looks like it's had more money spent on it, esp. the interior.

Upholstery is cheap compared to a Mast LS7 and Roadster Shop chassis

The '70 is a poseur compared to typical higher end protouring builds like that '71. The dealer is just hoping some sucker will pay that much. They don't even list any info about it, leaving us to guess. IMO it should be listed for half that.

The '71 stance looks tacky to me and not very useful TBH - there may have been a lot of $$ spent but there's not much performance to be had there - too low and M/T to be a drag car, and skinnies up front and limited wheel travel to be a handler. Plus it's listed as originally a 6-cylinder car. The '70 MY is not only more desirable but is also replete with SS badging (whether true SS or not I have no idea, but if so, it is inherently more valuable even chopped up). Probably will never know the full story on the '70 as the advertising is not befitting of a $150,000 listing.

Ok, maybe $60,000 then, considering the quality of the work gone into it.

Those wheels and steering wheel are so bad on the '70, I would question the previous owner's judgement on everything else too

That's the thing, you're buying someone else's taste, and that's a hard sell. Unlike 100% original.

CaminoRacer

The '71 being an original 6 cylinder car is a good thing, IMO. Because if the '70 is an original SS, it just makes some of the mods more of a travesty

Yup. I'd consider hidden mods like suspension upgrades and disc brake conversions acceptable, as long as the original parts are kept, but that's about it.

I've always liked original vehicles. There's more to a vintage car than just the body style.
The whole personality of the vehicle is more attractive to me.
As an example, I'd rather have grandma's old '58 Chevy with the  original 6 cylinder and Powerglide than the same vehicle with an LS motor and an $8000 paint job.
Use the savings to buy grandpa's 55 Ford pickup!

I like original as well, but it's got to have that V8 rumble.  Never been a fan of inline 6s after the '51 Chevy that was such a pain-in-the-ass.

I guess that was the problem then.

I don't think it ever made it up to 80 though.
