It's mislabeled; it is definitely an XT! The SVX had the funky windows with tinted translucent plastic on the corners.

I'm extra confused because now I remember that same neighbor traded their XT for an SVX.

Yeah, that's horrible but the SVX was not as bad. The SVX had the "split windows" and was rounded instead of sharp angles.

BTW Rich sent me a video of Doug Demuro reviewing the original Taurus SHO and I went down the rabbit hole. Found a FB SHO page, much more active than the old SHO forum I'm still a member of!

Can't believe people still build and rebuild them.

Doug's review is mostly interesting but he dogs on the car, he is in an Automatic and never takes advantage of the rev range during his tiny short drive.

Reminder it was the fastest FWD car in the world at the time, and the only 4-doors faster than the $20k car were the $50k M5 and $70k 7er....

The car looks pretty ho hum but those intake runners are just timeless.

our Lost Kevin (who seems to be doing great, and whom I still stalk to see how he is) bought one of those a while ago: and then had a conundrum about how to get it back to Ohio from Michigan because it has like a 150 mile range. I believe he ended up towing it.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

Not even...EPA says 62 miles of range.  Unless there are/were higher-capacity battery options.

I'm gonna try to take a look tomorrow!

'66 had the best front end and nifty drum speedo but still had the "nailhead" 425 V8, and though no slouch at 340 hp gross, does date back to the early '50s. The pinnacle IMO is the '67 which is all the same save for the then all-new 430 V8. This particular example also has the very rare floor shifter and bucket seats (though for some reason it doesn't look quite right). States only ~35k miles and looks like it.

Note these and select other GM vehicles actually had launch control. When power braking, after a certain amount of throttle, a solenoid was tripped which opened a circuit in the torque converter to increase stall speed ~500 RPM. Very nifty.

I'd get a set of legit factory wheels, new exhaust, get the underside dry ice'd, and clean up the engine compartment a bit (esp. the exhaust manifolds).

Nice looking old bus.  What kind of mufflers are those?  Must make a nice rumble.

Turns out it's a local high end classics dealer. Couldn't set a good time today so it'll have to wait.

I'd totally go back to (fairly quiet) stock mufflers + resonators befitting of a luxury coupe. Though it's got the muscle car goods, it's not a muscle car.

What do you think?  Goal is to make private sales less horrible.

Last time I sold a car I had to meet the buyer at a bank.  He gave me the cash which I deposited & only then did I sign across the title & bill of sale. It was stone age stuff, huge pain in the ass. But secure.

It's a good idea, but it's only as good as the popularity of it.  There are a lot of similar services offered.  The problem is: I've never heard of it.  Most people aren't selling cars by putting it on the side of the road, or through listing it on privateauto.com.  FB is where the meth heads trade beaters around.  I usually post on CarGurus + FB + model specific forums.  I bought my S2000 from S2ki.com and sold it through there too.

I ended up using escrow.com to manage a bank transfer.  I think it was like $200 when it was all said and done.  Worth it for the peace of mind.

Yes!

The SVX is the better looking of the two, but lacked a manual transmission, if I recall correctly.

Was reading an ad for a Lincoln MKZ and one of the selling points was "I have the correct color-match touch-up paint for any dings or scratches that occur."

...the car is black.  :wtf:
