You still paid what you thought you were going to pay before the guy lowered the price.  Imagine, you'd probably have paid that excise tax no matter what.  It sucks, but the car is all yours, and I hope you learn everything there is to learn about it...

...You're going to need to before you get violated by an NA Impreza.

Apparently, the excise tax is based on the original MSRP, which they had at $47k. Lucky for me, I just received my reimbursement check from the Air Force for the cost of 180-days worth of a storage unit ($$$!).
BTW, the only way a NA Impreza would ever come close enough to read the "QUATTRO" in my rear defroster is when I'm lapping you.

Because I will give you the benefit of the doubt in saying that the V8Q is faster than what the mags suggest, all I will say is that give me about $500 and enough time to get my 2.5 liter engine installed.  My car will look like shit, but it will handle like a Miata.  Be afraid... :evildude:

Are you ever going to do a manual conversion?

Apparently there's a bad bearing in the transmission.  In about 30,000 miles (so the mechanic tells me) when it goes out, I will be looking for a wrecked 2.5 RS or an STi 6 speed to play with.  Yes, a 6 speed linked to a 1998 EJ25 in a 1993 car.  Would not that be fun?

Unfortunately, the 2.5 RS stuff can be had for $700ish on the second-hand market, a new auto through someone who swapped would be about $400, and the STi 6 speed is about $2,000.  It's all about priorities.

I'm reading the pwner's manual now....

-For the driver's convenience, an electric control panel for storage of 4 different seat positions has been installed in the door panel.
-The heated door lock is activated by briefly pulling on the driver's door handle.
-The Audi V8 is not an off-road vehicle as it does not have enough ground clearance
-Do not use any fuel with octane ratings lower than 91 RON or 87 AKI
-Your vehicle is equipped with a modern, light weight, high performance V8 engine that is fuel efficient with low exhaust emissions.
-It is normal for you engine to consume oil.

I have located the blower fan's fuse, and it is still good. However, it is a 30A, when the manual clearly calls for a 20A. I guess either there is a short somewhere in the wiring, or the motor is fuxxed. I don't know which one is worse. I guess that depends how much a new motor costs. :mask:
