Dad's Poor 5er.

Poor car. Someone tried to mess around with it. And contrary to what my dad said, the STEERING's messed up, not the suspension. Don't know where he got that from. My dad's gonna check the Brooklyn impound, and if they happened to tow near the car, he's gonna get them to pay, as they probably tried to move the car. My dad feels that someone attempted to steal the car, but I don't know about that. Anyway, the left front tie rod's bent.

On the lift

The tie rod

The good tie rod, on the right front wheel.

:(

Makes me sad.

That sucks, dude.  Let us know if you find out what caused that bend.  Sexy looking car though.  I didn't care too much for the E60 at first, but I've warmed up to it.  It's still no E38 though...

Who cares, your mom drives a Camry. ANY Audi kills any Camry ever made. In fact, any turbo Audi owns any car you own.

Ro, in the first pic, the left front wheel is turned to the right.

In the last pic, the front right wheel seems to be turned slightly to the left.

Were the wheels turned between pictures, or is it that fucked?

Honestly, I don't know.  Does your dad leave the wheels turned when he parks?  Perhaps one was sticking out (from being turned) and it got clipped by something passing by.  That still doesn't make a ton of sense, as I'd expect to see some tire/wheel damage too, and possibly some suspension damage.  Maybe there was debris in the road that your dad inadvertently ran over, and it got kicked into the tie-rod in just the way to cause that.

I don't know dude.  How long has your dad had the car, and how many miles does it have on it?  If it's still pretty new (I seem to recall Ro10592 making a post when his parent's bought it ), I'd call BMW NA and try to get them to contribute towards the cost of repair.  Have him play the whole "I'm not impressed with the strength of components on this car, and I will not be purchasing anther one or recommending this make to my friends" card.  I bet they have a goodwill program, and they'll help out a bit.  It never hurts to try.

No, he parked straight, and there is no damage on the body. Dad had the car since sometime in September. Maybe a week after school started, which it did on the 5th? I'll tell him to do that. As for now, insurance has it covered, with a $500 deductible.

Oh, if insurance is covering it, then I wouldn't even bother trying to call BMW NA.  I was offering that idea as a way to minimize out of pocket expense, which you guys are already on top of.  If you've already the insurance co. to cover it, I'd call that a success.  I'm also assuming that your parents have a good enough history that something like that isn't going to cause premium hikes either.

I'm going on 9 years (my whole driving career) without an insurance claim myself.
