...and as the shuttle driver is backing up:

Dealer has already agreed to pay for the repair, initial estimate, $850, pretty much all labour.

If she had used a bit better judgement parking her car in the first place (it wasn't in a "spot") well, anyway....

Huh?

Parkway Toyota on Centennial/Hwy 20.

I see. Never had experience with them. We've bought from Brimell Toyota, Erin Park Lexus Toyota, Georgetown Toyota, and most recently Woodbine.

I was a bit torn on whether or not I wanted them to foot the bill for a new fender.

New fender guarantees no fitment issues since they dont have to straighten it and shit, but introduces a color match issue because they have to paint the WHOLE fender then.

I think I've pretty much decided to just let them fix that one since they will only have to paint that corner.

On the bright side, the whole bumper has to be repainted so the scratches she got from a shopping cart a while back will be history.

Also, 'r0llas FTW!

Whatever Toyboat lover, the thing is boring as shit to drive. I guess that fits with the Toyota theme though :P

Even my mom wants a Civic again (had an '02 before this) after this car.

It's a horrible piece of shit, I agree. It's even worse than Nick's 'st33m. I'd rather drive a 'st33m than a 'r0lla because of the cargo room that fat bastard ha.s

I wouldn't go THAT far. It is a decent car for the most part, but it has ABSOLUTELY no intentions of being driven with any sort of aggressiveness.

One of the most annoying things about it is that the DBW SUCKS ASS. Every gear shift at anything over quarter throttle is accompanied by a rise in rpms as you clutch in. I've tried ALL sorts of timings while shifting and you just can not get around it.

DBW?

Someone did that to my Ranger a while ago. It annoyed me that they didn't bother to leave a note (so rude), but I could really care less. And before I bought it in May, someone backed into it and the box had to be repaired before I could buy it.

Ouch!  While we're on the topic of stupid shuttle drivers... Working at a GM dealer while I was in high school, one of them drove his Montana off the road, parked it in someones veranda, then had the second story collapse onto him!

Champ

Usually instead of a direct cable controlling the throttle body (TB), there is a sensor that looks at the gas pedal position and controls the TB via electronics.

I don't know what that is.

Like Champ said, there is no mechanical connection between the gas pedal and the throttle body butterfly.

While there are several drive-by-wire cars that pull this off near (or even completely) transparently (Acura NSX from day 1, Corvette starting with the C5, etc...), on regular cars it is configured more for mileage and emissions which has some pretty fucking annoying side effects.

Check youtube, there are lots of vids of the new Civic Si doing this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALbkkQ21Ea4&feature=related

I'd be happy with what the Si does compared to the Corolla. The Corollas revs actually rise a few hundred instead of just hang there.

hark  the king of toyota trolls has sallied forth with a query in a vain attempt to change the subject  you should be cornhobbled for your wretched attempt

what vehicle i choose for my personal transportation of of little consequence with regard to this topic

in the realm of automobiles a corolla is a bottom feeder  inexpensive transportation for those who neither like not understand the automobile  corollas are bought with all the care and forethought that one spends when buying a new can opener or counter top mixer

when your toaster gets scratched do you rush out and get it repainted and buffed to like new condition   of course you don't    you live with the imperfection and use the appliance until it suffers a terminal fault

corollas are the same   use it until it dies  discard and buy another   thats probably covered somewhere in the owners manual
