Texas is $40 each year.

I didn't read the whole thread or any of it but I saw this post.

Interesting factoid, Texas is ranked 51st in the percentage of people who have vanity plates. Something like .51%. I think it is for the sole reason it is ridiculously pricey. Virginia was number 1.

I don't drive the prettiest car on earth right now, but I kinda want SUBRU, SBYDBY, GOTAWD, or DOOBIE for a plate right now.

DOOBIE? Really?

One I saw today has me baffled.

An older white Maxima, shiny chrome tailpipe, ersatz Nismo stickers on the flanks and Skyline-style taillights had the custom license plate "Renault" on it.

I'm pretty sure that's a category 4 WTF.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

Cheesy.

But I don't like vanity plates anyway.

I have my university's special plates, but no customized writing/#s.

IMO it's kind of dumb to get anything having to do with your real name as a plate. For a while I was thinking about getting something like "THX DAD" or "SPOILED" or "I6 3ER" or "LV2XLR8" or "1I1I1I1I" but then I decided to get the college plate.

I6 3er would've sucked because all 3 series besides the M3 are I6's.

FlatBlackCaddy

I like them on certain cars.

I was just thinking about vanity plates the other day.

I was thinking of the ultimate winter beater, one idea was a last gen RS6 with the badges removed and the regular A6 badge on it. The plate i would have picked would have been "slow A6", or something like that(of course it would have been modified to 600hp).

I could get a set for the Z, "nontrbo".

I have yet to see a binary custom plate.

Probably just a joke but I recall hearing of a vanity plate on an expensive car driven by a freshly divorced woman.  Plate read "WAS HIS".

As a FYI, "1" and "I" are treated as the same letter on a plate.  Along with O and 0, and a space, underscore (_) and dash (-) are all the same thing as well.

What does 20 in binary stand for?

850CSi

Oh, I didn't know that.

Can you get dashes and forward slashes or anything like that on plates? Does it depend on the state?

Probably depends some on states, but I know a dash (-) is ok, but a slash (/ or \) is not usable.

Aplpha-numeric with - and _ only.

Most definitely not in Ontario. We have a 7-character plate system, 4 letters and 3 numbers (example: APSJ 875). I know for sure that Os and zeros aren't the same character, because my girlfriend's plate used to be BBOR 290. That's BB-oh-R two ninety. Same goes for I and 1.

Keep in mind your plate system has separate sections for letters and numbers.  For instance, BBOR 290 couldn't be BB0R 29O (reversed the #'s and letters) because the 0 is a number amongst letters - which has nothing to do with O and 0 being considered the same.

This also applies to usually just personal plates, where you can have a mix of anything.

True. I know New Jersey (among a few others I can't think of) has a random combination of letters and numbers, so it would be like T59 4J3 or something... in which your theory would make sense.
