Gotta go for the GT-R. The more I read about that car, the less I can believe how impossibly amazing it is

I voted S5. Yes it is the slowest, but it is the only one (other than the Aston, which just seems gaudy) that has passion.

GT-R. Definitely the most significant entry here.

I'm going to buy a tube radio so we can huddle round it and, by the light of a single candle, listen to President Obama's fireside chats.

Only one of those cars is a man amongst boys and it's sadly not the highest pick. I mean literally one car is a Le Mans race car and the rest are sports cars. It's not even close.

I count at least 3 that compete at LeMans.

If you are referring to the "the DBS just seems gaudy,": it is overstyled, with too many bulges and vents.

If you are referring to the "S5 is the only one with passion": the others are clearly cars designed with a singular purpose, getting around a track in the fastest possible manner. The S5 seems more about the whole experience, from the first time you lay eyes on it to bumping along in city traffic. It is one of a couple of listed cars that could, within reason,  be an only car.

Then you seriously fail at counting. There is one car that is pretty much homologation.

So a good daily driver makes the car a passionate? So what you're saying is that basically any high-end or exotic sports car/GT isn't passionate? What's that make a Camry for you?

Corvette and Viper both compete in the GT1 class, which is a production-based class with homologation rules.  GT3 plays in the production-based GT2 class.

I believe the DB9 competes at LeMans as well does it not?  The DBS is just a better DB9.

Is that what I said? No, it isn't. Be practical as a daily driver is certainly a benefit, but it is all about emphasizing experience over performance, that is what Ferraris do, that is what some Porsches do, and that is what the S5 does.

JYODER240

Where do you get that the S5 is more fun to drive than the rest of these?

Just from what I have read it seems that way. The other are all point and blast. Sure they have high levels of grip and a ton of power, but in the end I think they are over engineered.

TBR

Maybe this is all just gibberish, but the other cars just seem too much like machines designed for a specific purpose.

That's essentially the definition of a sports car.  A car specifically designed for motorsport.

Oh boy, where's Raza?

But, anyway, the poll says Best Sports/GT Car, that implies to me that the poll is over which car you would prefer to use as an only car, not which one you would prefer to take to a track.

I didn't take it to imply such.  I wouldn't say that "GT" in any way implies competent daily driver or viable "only car", either.  The question is which is the best sports OR GT car.

I took it as a way to make sure I didn't bring up the fact that none of them are sports cars other than the roadster version of the Viper SRT-10.
