Bonus points if you can give me the date these ships ran aground.

The Honda Point Disaster, 8 Sept 1923. The USS Nicholas (311) and USS SP Lee (310) ran aground with 5 other Navy ships. Lots of explaining followed.

I was originally thinking the Truxton and Pollux, which ran aground off Nfld in 1942, but the hull number on the Nicholas gave it away.
