No more GM lizard skin interiors, please!

280Z Turbo

After spending the day at NAIAS, I can see that GM has improved a lot, but one thing that I kept seeing over and over again was that weird, rough, almost rubbery, deep-grained textured plastic.

I much prefer a softer, more natural leather grain in plastics. GM's door panels and dashes look cheap to me.

Has anyone else noticed this?

The steering wheel in the LaCrosse was like that.  Other than that, the interior looked nice enough that I didn't feel a dash stroking was even necessary.

I should like to see far more crushed Medici velour, shirred Monticello velour, Moselle knit cloth, Maharajah cloth with matching leather bolsters, Sierra full leather...

When was the last time velour was in style, 1750?

Depending on price, that could be a good deal.

Velour seating areas are awarded only to those of the highest merit. Just ask Mr. DeVille.

Yeah, it's more rubbery than anything else I can think of.  Like it "almost" looks and feels decent but it misses the mark a little.

I think that most people prefer a more distinct grain, such as with the new interiors.  There is a balance somewhere, but the only ones that have it, as far as I'm concerned, are BMWs.

Also, whoever designed the Acadia interior needs a sharp blow to the scrotilia; the plastics are so soft that scratching them is way too easy.  I had to r/r a headliner in one yesterday and had to cover up a ton of scratches that would never have been a problem in other vehicles.

I think BMW's plastics are too hard.  I think Audi/VW has the best compromise on the market right now.

Or to relax with a cigar and a glass of good single malt: which is sort of the image they were trying to convey.
