The Ford Capri exhibition from the Technik-Museum in Speyer. The cars were placed very close together which prevented creative photography or rear shots.

1969 Ford Capri GT: 1.7-l 4-cylinder, 75-horsepower
This was the first Capri which debuted in 1969 at the Brussel International Car Show. The technology was based on the Ford Cortina (UK) / Ford Taunus (Germany) and the car was produced at Ford factories in the UK, Germany and Belgium. Originally Ford wanted to use the name "Colt", but  this was illegal since this was a name copyrighted by Mitsubishi.

1974 Ford Capri Ghia: 2.3 6-cylinder, 108-horsepower
The '74 Capri was essentially a facelifted '69 Capri with more powerful brakes, engines and visual changes. The base motor was the 98-horsepower 2.0 4-cylinder from the American Ford Pinto.

1982 Ford Capri Turbo: 2.8-l Turbo V6, 188-horsepower
The '82 Capri Turbo would be the most powerful Capri ever. The turbocharged engine was lively and provided driving pleasure previously unkown to mainstream buyers. The Capri Turbo was also limited to 200 models making it a very rare car. The standard '81 Capri was built until December of 1986, by which time 1,886,647 cars had left the factory.

1982 Ford Capri Turbo: 2.8-l Turbo V6, 188-horsepower

1984 Ford Capri 2.8i Super Injektion: 2.8-l V6, 160-horsepower
The 2.8i with fuel injection replaced the 3.0 V6. It proved to be the better engine combining sporty characteristics with tame manners when driven normally. The 2.8i was able to reach 210 km/h but was only available with a 4-speed manual transmission.

It would have cost too much to censor that much pure sexiness, so of course they didn't sell it here.

Nice......... I presume this is a temporary exhibition, Christian? (like the Honda's?).

I've not been to Singen yet......... must plan a visit. It's not that far from Zurich, so it ought to be possible!

Actually, we did get the European Capri in America.

Here's a 1972 US model:

And a 1973 US model:

The car introduced in the US on 17th April 1970 (as a 1971 model). Capri sales for the first month amounted to 2,011 units, emptying Lincoln-Mercury showrooms of Capris across the country.
At the car's launch, two engines were available: the 1.6 litre "Kent" engine and the 2.0 litre "Pinto" engine.  Road Test magazine named the Capri it's "Import Car of the Year" for 1971.  By 1972, a 2.6 litre V6 was added and the 1.6 Kent engine was dropped for the 1973 model year.  A 2.8 litre V6 replaced the 2.6 litre unit in 1974 and the 2.0 I-4 continued to be offered as the base engine.

No Capris were imported for the 1975 model year but it did return in March of 1975 as a 1976 model, now known as the Capri II.

1977 US-market Capri II:

And another one:

Base engine was now a 2.3 litre I-4 and the 2.8 litre V6 continued to be offered.  Capri sales began to slide, however, as a result of rising prices due to changes in exchange rates.  Capris were sold in America until 1978.  The following year the Capri name began to be used on a Mercury-badged version of the Mustang.
