Values can vary significantly with region.  Call_911 is in Long Island, which isn't exactly the cheapest area to buy a car.  I ran KBB, plugging in the zip code for Roslyn, NY (relatively near him), and came out with a dealer value of $25.2K, without navigation.

Ro said they got it for $23.5K out the door.  I'm assuming this means that tax, title, miscellaneous fees are included in that price.  If I'm correct,  I'd say they made out pretty well.  Even if that doesn't include tax, they are almost 2Gs below the KBB dealer number.  Okay, so KBB values can be a bit inflated, but NADA puts the car at $23.4K (again, Roslyn, NY zip).  I've found NADA to be pretty accurate in the Northeast - they made out pretty well.

And yes, Honda products have stupidly high resale value.  Current gas prices certainly have not hurt this, either.

Yeah, taxes were included. We bought the car at Rallye Acura, which is in Roslyn. Compared to other TSX's in the area, we got a pretty good deal.

That's a lovely car.  Congrats.

But for an Indian, your dad sucks at negotiating.

It's come to the point in his life where he doesn't even give a shit anymore.

That's wonderful, however, I don't think my Dad needs a financial consultant. He knows what he's doing a lot better than a 20 year old does. ;)

Donald Trump will not shake your hand because it's too dirty for him to touch (he's a germaphobe), but he will pick up such "litter."

Are you kidding, where did he say that? I call that bs. Hell, even if he did say that somewhere I still will think he's a huge liar.

Wow Adam, I had no idea used cars would be (relatively) expensive out there in NY. I was always under the impression that the weather did a number to cars, lowering their resale value.

If it was my money and I was looking for a 2 year old Honda, I'd get an Accord V6 with Leather and Nav, but hey, its your money and you guys seem happy with - congrats.

Well, not in all of NY, but LI. It's an expensive place.

My Dad thought the Accord V6 was too big, and too thirsty, and my sister liked the way the TSX looked over it, and they're the same price, so I guess this works out better.

Yeah the Accord is def. bigger. The funny thing is though, you'd think it was way more thirsty but it actually gets almost the same mileage and doesn't drink premium

If only we could call it that here. In that case, the car would have probably been a lot cheaper.

e13, if you're around, care to explain the whole TL key fob thing to me? That could make a nice gift later on.

Sorry I haven't been around for a while, been quite busy.
The TL key-fob mod is basically, making the 2007+TL's keyfob compatible with the TSX. the TL keyfob is a switchblade style keyfob, so it's kinda a neat toy..

firstly:
TL keyfob's uncut key is thicker than that of a TSX.. and it's VERY hard to find someone who can mill it down for you, and this is before getting it cut by a dealer. FLBUSA sells a pre-milled key. You can take that key to a dealer to have it cut and have the immobilizer programmed for your TSX (that's if they agree to do it at all) They would charge 1/2 - 1 hour of labour for it.

eThirteen

and if anyone is interested:

here is what our TSX is looking like right now:

Like i said before, at least you acknowledge it's a honda

Yeah, when I first started driving it I thought it felt pretty weak, but after awhile I definitely appreciate its power. It's fun when you can drive it at 8/10's with a little amount of power versus having to go at only 6/10's and having a lot.

In the end, it needs more torque, but after you get over that, it's a lot of fun and handles terrifically; especially for a FWDer.

That said, I still prefer the Audi to it.

Just our goddamned luck. It got hit when it was parked, and the bumper is pretty nasty. Luckily we have the offender's insurance info, and it's going back to the dealer to be fixed soon.
