I'm blaming the recent uglification of Japanese cars on the derivative styling of most Chinese cars.

In a way it makes sense: They'd rather have ugly cars than cars that are confused with Chery or Brilliance.

The resemblance is more than just a passing one.

You could have done the same to any small hatch and gotten similar results. Much of their design differs from one another, such as:

the rear lights
the front lights
the rear 3/4 sheetmetal
the rear passenger window
the driver and passenger windows
the hood
the beltline
the grill/front bumper
the wheels
the front overhang
the rear bumper
the air vent and lower contouring

I didn't notice the checkered top, but other than that, we might as well accuse it of ripping-off the Viper, or Camaro, or Musting, or GT40, or...

I agree-  there's quite a bit of Viper influence in all four of these styling proposals.
