I should get one...

YES

This is the truck I tried to trade the Jetta for. http://maine.craigslist.org/car/746115051.html
We almost had a deal, but then he changed his mind because he decided he didn't want a Jetta. It's still for sale. Obviously, this guy is asking too much, his truck is a POS, and he can't make up his mind. I still want it, though.

If I bought a 2wd 4cyl Ranger, which I may very well do if the Jetta shits the bed, I will definately get one of THESE as my first modification.

Do it!

Too much lift, but otherwise, it looks fine. That price is just about in line with the others I've seen in the Bham, WA area.

Unfortunately they probably wouldn't come close to passing emissions or safety standards- plus they figure there isn't a market for it in the US. (Or DO they sell a 4-door ranger stateside??)

I can get a Ranger Supercab 4x4 with the 4.0L V6 and 5 speed manual for $19K cdn MSRP taxes included.  Seems pretty decent to me.  Though for $23K I can have the fully loaded FX4 Offroad package.

MrH

Yes, they do make 4 cyl, 4WD trucks.  My dad has a 4-cyl, 4WD, 5-speed Tacoma.  It's actually not as slow as I'd expect.  The thing is huge (compared to my car atleast).

I wouldn't mind driving that truck. Tacomas are awesome.

My car buying fickleness has come full circle this weekend.  Next vehicle is a Tacoma (equipped exactly like MrH's father's truck).  I'd take a Ranger too.

My dad's really old place of work had three of those.  They were white with red accent stripes, had V8's, and the really cool old buzzer.

Dude, up in the Northeast, the 4WD is useful (not necessary, but useful).  And besides, the 2WD trucks aren't significantly more fuel efficient than the 4WD ones.  I'll take the fuel economy hit for the increased versatility.

If I got a truck I'd just use the bed and probably not go off the road. And who would lower a 4x4 truck? :hammerhead:

Lower it, put some decent springs/shocks and wheels on it, and slap a terbow on, and you'd have a Subaru killer.  I'd drive one.
