What is with Accord owners putting rims from different generations on their cars? My bro's 1999 EX V6 sedan had rims from the next generation.

Those aren't 2000 Honda wheels?

I have a feeling the car had aftermarket wheels on it, though.  Several things about the car give that away pretty easily.
2. 1995 Saturn SL2 5-speed, 126,500 miles. 5,000 miles in two and a half months. That works out to 24,000 miles per year if I can keep up the pace.

I don't care about all that shit.  I'll be going to college to get an education at a cost to my parents.  I'm not going to fool around.

Those are 2003 EX 4-cylinder (sedan) wheels, if I'm not mistaken.

They're from an 2003+ Accord. (Horrible pic, but gets the point across)

My brother's 1999 Accord Sedan had these wheels.

I told him to take it easy on the transmission, but honestly, the car is a treat to drive.  I have 150 miles of proof under my belt.
I have thousands of miles of proof under my belt that the V6 6th gen Accord is a flaming POS.

Everything else other than the transmission is quite nice, though the 5 speed 4 cylinder feels far peppier than the V6 4AT.

Whether or not you like it, how smooth do you think the automatic is?  My brother's is a little jerky through first and second, not at all unlike the 4EAT in my car.  Is that normal?  He's worrying about it, but the car is showing no CELs for the transmission, and it's relatively low mileage.  I don't think there's anything to worry about.

Also, some of his lugs were falling off, I think because of aftermarket wheels that were on there before he bought the car, so he got three new lug bolts put onto the car today on the rear driver's side hub.  Otherwise, all the car needs is a transmission flushing and an oil change and I think that it will be perfect.

The 1st-2nd shift is quite bad on our car... I like the rest of the car. It's just that the automatic is a dumb, slow POS, and is very underwhelming to drive especially after driving the excellent 5 speed 4 cylinder model.

No, replacing at the dealership would cost too much so we had it rebuilt at a private transmission specialist shop at 120,000 miles.

It's got 155,000 on it right now, and the transmission definitely would've asploded by now. Right before we got it rebuilt, it would take forever to engage a gear, and the engine would start to rev up as the transmission slowly changed gears and once it did eventually change gears, it changed with a horrendous THUNK that jerked the car around... it seems like it's in early stages of doing that again. I suspect it won't get past 200-225k miles. The engine should be good for 300,000 miles, but my dad will get rid of it before then.

Overall it's a pretty reliable car, although a few things have gone wrong like the door locks don't lock and the door handle broke so it couldn't be opened from the inside. And the seatback power motor doesn't work either...

My brother has noticed no such things besides a slight ticking noise from the transmission like that noise that Chrysler transmissions make.  He drives the thing like a softie because I've drilled it into his head that this car shouldn't be yanked around, and he says that it's pretty good so far.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did the rebuild run you?

Edit:  The Contour is still at home and being driven because the engine and transmission are still solid as a rock in that car and he probably couldn't get too much for a car with 196,000 miles on it.

I believe it was over $2k.

Yeah, we did it about two years ago, and the car was worth only about $6k back then... should've run the transmission into the ground and then dumped it for a Fit.

I'm going to convince him to dump this for a manual Civic or Accord as soon as he graduates in June and heads off to law school.

The car has a book value of $6,100.
