This concept shows us what VW's new commercial pickup looks like. It is of the 1 ton class. The concept is called Robust.

Except for the SAR kit and perhaps the fenders, I think it is almost production ready.

It's a Toyota Hilux underneath, but I applaud them for actually taking the time to bend some sheetmetal. Much better than that lame rebadge that is the Suzuki Equator.

S204STi

Same engine choices as the Hilux?  Or is VW supplying those?

No it's not. They used a Hilux body as camouflage for the prototype.

Cookie Monster

That looks really, really nice.

It's cleanly styled. What engines are supposed to be in it?

No reason those fenders wouldn't make it to production.

I expect this will be popular in many developing markets, but I wouldn't think it would be a big seller in the US or Europe.

With the rise of trucklets like the Honda Ridgeline I wonder if it might actually do alright, particularly if it came with a good engine package.

If it's one-ton, it's not trucklet. But it's not as if Honda has had such fantastic success in its attempt to break into the pickup market anyway.

MaxPower

neat truck; maybe its the SAR kit, but those bed rails look prohibitively wide.  Its a problem when the only way to access the bed is through the tailgate.

Catman

Needs a proper rear bumper.

Definately needs a step-n-tow bumper out back. Trucks are useless without them.

In the second photo from the top, it appears to have the facilities for stepping and towing.

Better.
2. 1995 Saturn SL2 5-speed, 126,500 miles. 5,000 miles in two and a half months. That works out to 24,000 miles per year if I can keep up the pace.

I don't care about all that shit.  I'll be going to college to get an education at a cost to my parents.  I'm not going to fool around.

And really cool.

Madman

Volkswagen could always team up with Toyota again, like they did when they prodeced the Volkswagen Taro, a rebadged Toyota Hilux.

Looks great to me. Waaaay better than the Caddy. The old Caddy was cool but the last one with the lights from the Polo Classic was just boring. I guess a commercial vehicle doesn't have to look good... But beeing a worker is surely more fun in a Chevy El Camino or a Holden Ute (or even in a good looking V Dub) than in an ugly ass truck.

From the last sales numbers I saw I didn't think the Ridgeline was doing all that well.
