Last Sunday I attended the Formula BMW world final in Mexico City's Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez (this is the same place where I have tracked a few times).

For those of you unfamiliar with Formula BMW, it is an open wheel worldwide series with three championships. One in the U.S. & Canada, one in Asia and another one in Europe. BMW brings together the top drivers from all three championships for a world final. The winner gets a test on their F1 team.

This year the world final was here in Mexico. A Mexican driver was the European champion. The race was won by the U.S. champion, Alexander Rossi. Esteban, mexican, finished third.

Besides the race, there were a few cool "side" exhibits and events. First and foremost was the F1 car exhibition, driven here by Augusto Farfus, WTCC driver. The sound of the F1 car is just unbelievable. I have decided that next year I have to attend an F1 race, most likely Montreal.

Robert Kubica was here too, AND HE SIGNED MY SAUBER F1 TEAM JACKET. He was doing laps in a BMW '99 LeMans winner (I guess he wanted to try something else). There was also an M1 Procar and a CSL racing Batmobile from the 70's. All doing hot laps.

As an exhibit only (undriven) we got to see the new M3 ALMS racer, and the MINI Challenge cars. There was also a super-cool acrobatic bike exhibition.

You can find a few pics here (I don't know how to link them from my club board to here and am too lazy to reupload):
