"According to reports on DragTimes, the duo are pretty darn close with the naturally-aspirated Dodge posting an impressive 546 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque compared to the supercharged ZR1's 549.9 horsepower and 500 lb-ft."

"Dodge officially (under) rates the ACR at 600 horsepower, and an estimated 15% loss through the drivetrain would put this beast at an actual 642 horses. "

Depending on price, that could be a good deal.

Gotta-Qik-C7

I want both! I'll drive the ZR1 to/from the track and the Viper would be my weapon of mass destruction.

Either I'm confused or they're confused.

Those numbers make a little more sense.

How are you guys confused?  Assuming a 15% drive train loss, which is normal, the Viper is making about 640 hp at the crank, because it's making 546 hp at the wheels...

I don't care about all that shit.  I'll be going to college to get an education at a cost to my parents.  I'm not going to fool around.

The 2003-2004 Cobras were under rated to the tune of 50 or 60 hp.  Guys were hitting 385 hp at the wheels with bone stock Cobras.  That's roughly 450-455 hp at the crank.

Sigma Projects

I don't get it either, 15% drive line loss would put the viper at 628hp@crank not 642?

642 * .85 = 545.6 ~ 546 HP.

ah you're right.

Ah, gotcha.  Sorry, my reading comprehension has taken a serious dive this week because of a lack of sleep.

But I was confused why everyone was so confused.  There's drivetrain losses, and apparently the Viper is underrated.  I don't know what's so confusing about that.

But on that note, I think I'd honestly take a normal viper over the acr.  The amount of adjustability on the aerodynamics and the shocks is a little much.  I'm an engineer, and even I think that'd be get to be a little much after awhile.

It's meant as a track toy, so yeah, I would take a Viper Coupe over the ACR any day of the week...except Sunday.

I think I'd rather go to the track on Saturday more than Sunday.  I'm always more hung over on Sunday (I think the cumulative drinking adds up to create the perfect storm on Sunday).  :partyon:

I can see how dialing in the right angles for the splitters, canards, spoiler, diffusers, etc being a big pain in the ass unless you're a hardcore track junkie.  Wrong setting can probably cost more time than you gain..
