Your Top 10 Cars

SVT666

What are your Top 10 Cars (in order of preference) that you would actually spend your own money on (new or used).

Let's be realistic and make them relative to your current income.  If you're a student, make them relative to what you could realistically make in your first year on the job in what you are going to school for.

SVT666

My list is based on what I want or need, not what my wife wants or needs.  We already have her next car picked out...a 2006 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer.  This list is for me.

Hemi's Top 10
1. 2008 Pontiac G8 GT
2. 2010 Ford Fusion Sport
3. 2009 Mazda 6 V6

You must make a boat load of money to be able to afford a half million dollar car.  What do you do for a living?

You mean the Amphicar?  I saw a Ford GT back home for sale for $139k.
2. 1995 Saturn SL2 5-speed, 126,500 miles. 5,000 miles in two and a half months. That works out to 24,000 miles per year if I can keep up the pace.

The 1966 Shelby Cobra.  A genuine 1966 Cobra is near mint condition goes for $500,000.

Based on let's say two years out of college money:

1) Subaru WRX/STi
2) 986 Porsche Boxster
3) new Fiat 500
4) BMW 2002tii
5) E46 BMW M3
6) original Mini Cooper
7) Audi A4/S4
8) Subaru Forester XT stick
9) 2006 MINI Cooper S
10) 2001 2.5 RS

I am figuring a price cap of $15,000.

Not a boatload, but we do alright.

Good catch

My fingers outran my mind.  I was thinking replica like in factory five, but typed 1966 Cobra.  But I suspect one can find Cobras for less tha 1/2 a mil.  I see some actual Shelby's made more recently than 1966 but titled as 65 or 66 models going for well under that.

See:  http://www.dupontregistry.com/autos/Search/DRauSearchResults.aspx?sorttype=1&makeid=64&makename=Shelby&modelid=1&modelname=Cobra

Here's my list

The CTS-4 is all wheel drive. My friend Dot still has his Typhoon (white & gray) and it runs like a champ. I think a lot of those got modded to death (a la Supra Turbo) and as a result were a pain in the ass to keep running correctly.
2014 C7 Vert, 2002 Silverado, 2005 Road Glide

TBR

Porsche Cayman
Audi S5
BMW 135i
Nissan 370z
Audi TTS
BMW Z4
VW GTI R20

That will hopefully be my shopping list (provided none of them change dramatically for the worse) when I buy my first new car in 10ish years

If I have to be realistic?

1.  The car I am lucky enough to be driving right now (1998 Subaru legacy)
2.  The car that I unfortuantely shortened which is still sitting in my drive (1996 Honda Accord)
3.  late 1970s-early 1980s Univega road bicycle (currently in my living room waiting for the snow to melt)
4.  a radio flyer wagon
5.  a used skateboard
6.  my snowboots
7.  my running shoes
8.  my dresshoes
9.  my flip flops
10. ski boots?

Being realistic isn't very fun...

I split this into two lists for new / late-model used and older project cars.  The new list assumes I'd be trading in my BMW so I put a price cap of $55k on that.  The old list has about a $35k cap on the total project cost

New:
1.  2009 Cadillac CTS-V, minimal options
2.  2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS, loaded
3.  2009 BMW M3 Coupe
4.  2009 Pontiac G8 GXP
5.  2006-8 Chevrolet Corvette Z06

Old:
1.  1969 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray 427
2.  1970 Oldsmobile 442 W-30
3.  1993 BMW M5
4.  1985 Porsche 928
5.  About 20 different classic muscle cars.

While my answer is realistic, chances are that I will most likely find a nice, under 10 years old, reliable car and keep it for a while until I become rather comfortable.

As I've learned, a good, solid car is often worth more in the long-run than any hyperexotic ever could be.
2. 1995 Saturn SL2 5-speed, 126,500 miles. 5,000 miles in two and a half months. That works out to 24,000 miles per year if I can keep up the pace.
