BAW may have learned a lot from the Nanjing Auto take over of Rover assets, as BAW are on the verge of taking over Chrysler factory line equipment, and also engine building equipment.

Although talks are on going between the two auto makers, it seems that BAW are feeling confident about their planned purchases. Possible purchases being hinted at are the 300C and the Sebring platforms, and also engine blocks.

BAW plans to have its own ?Beijing? brand in operation by 2010, which look to have some very interesting cars judging by the concept cars which they released last year. BAW?s plans to revitalize the Beijing brand, which has until now been involved in making out of date SUV?s for military and police applications, as well as being involved in JV?s with Hyundai, Mercedes, and Chrysler.

More information as we get it.

Keep in mind that Beijing made the awesome looking 700, 700R and 800 concepts. With that styling, they might know what they're doing.

They're not even production, and if they were, they would still probably drive like crap and fold like accordions in 5mph crash tests.

Doesn't mean anything, really.  Doesn't mean it drives as well.  The Caliber rides on the Lancer platform, borrows a number of major Lancer components.  The Lancer is by all means a decent driving car.  The Caliber is a turd.
