Mark my words:  This slightly blander, slightly more generic Legacy will sell much better than the outgoing model in the states.

This is why you don't give 9% of the company to Toyota.

I still don't hate it, though.

Here's a good reason why you should:

the Teuton

2. 1995 Saturn SL2 5-speed, 126,500 miles. 5,000 miles in two and a half months. That works out to 24,000 miles per year if I can keep up the pace.

I don't care about all that shit.  I'll be going to college to get an education at a cost to my parents.  I'm not going to fool around.

That wagon is rolling sex.  Want.

Please note that it is a 6-speed manual Liberty GT by STI, produces 260hp/258lb-ft, and was only ever sold Down Under.

And it comes in silver:

Or white:

Can I have one without the steering wheel being on the wrong side, please?

An upside-down Liberty presents some unfortunate driving challenges.

True, true.

But would it be possible to just move the steering wheel to the other side of the car?

Also, 2.0 or 2.5 liter?

2.5. The 2.0 disappeared a few years back when we adopted Euro Something-or-other emissions levels.

I wouldn't call it ugly, but I would call it rather uninspired.

No, you wouldn't call it ugly, but it fucking is.

I'm having a hard time thinking of a worse looking sedan that isn't the Acura TL.

I think they raised the roof up with the beltline to avoid a car that looked like it had little pillbox windows from the outside.

The problem isn't that it is generic, Legacies have always been generic, the problem is that it is ugly and generic.

There are far more factory models of Mustangs than the whole Subaru lineup right now.

The business problem (lackluster sales) with the outgoing legacy was that it looks a bit ricer, and was too small; this solves both.

I have a hunch the Outback will look better.

That's a toss-up.

The Sebring is unattractive in a retro styling yet still managing to be bland sort of way.

The TL flat out reeks of fail, it's without a doubt the worst looking car in the N/A market in the past two decades.

The Legacy looks alright, but Subaru tried way too much with that front end.
