Colin

I did enjoy these.

Your "Lotus something" is actually a TVR S.

This car marked the renaissance of TVR, in the late 1980s, as they moved from the wedge shaped Tasmin models before the Griffith/Chimaera models arrived.

Escalades are for people who want people to think they are successful (i.e. have a larger penis).

Does that help?

Stop hating on the Escalade! Come on, they're pretty cool.

Interesting how the Euro-spec Pontiac Trans Sport used the Oldsmobile Silhouette front bumper and didn't have the ugly side cladding.  And none of GM's Dustbuster vans sold Stateside ever had headlamp washers!

The euro Trans Sport lost the Pontiac nostrils. They looked like a ridiculous afterthought on that car anyhow.

I am not even sure they were officially sold here. The only American minivan that has done really well here is the Chrysler Voyager - even the 1980s versions were quite popular here. Once in awhile you see them around still.  ;)

As it turns out, the Pontiac Trans Sport was sold in Europe through selected GM/Opel dealers.  In the early 1990s, GM make an attempt to sell some of it's US cars in Europe.  Other US models which made it over at the time were the Buick Park Avenue, Chevrolet Corsica and the Chevrolet Camaro.  (Trivia Note: European Camaros used seats from the US Pontiac Firebird.)  The results of this attempt to sell American GM cars in Europe can only be described as a colossal failure.

Early European Trans Sports were broadly similar to their American counterparts.  As a concession to European buyers, it was even possible to order one with a PSA sourced 1.9 litre turbo diesel with a whopping 90 horsepower!  From 1994, the Euro Trans Sport became a rebadged Oldsmobile Silhouette wearing Pontiac emblems.  It was discontinued when a new model, sold in Europe as both the Opel/Vauxhall Sintra and as a Chevrolet Trans Sport, replaced it.  For reasons which should be pretty obvious, none of these versions sold very well in Europe.

Great info, thanks.

That 1.9 90-hp turbodiesel engine in this Pontiac minivan must have been quite lethargic! That thing looks so heavy!

Maybe not.........the 1.9 PSA Diesel probably had loads of torque (140 ft/lbs, maybe?)  whereas the 3.1L only had 120HP.

Sure, but that van looks heavy and we don't know where the transmission came from - Pontiac or PSA? It might be geared incorrectly. You never know.  :wtf:
