So if the CC is worthless, then the CLS is worthless too?

But the CLS has a badge that the CC doesn't.  Yes, I really do think this comes down to badge.

If you're gonna buy German- at least buy a good German car.      :evildude:

That's the thing, they all are great cars?

What would you rather have in your garage, a Camry, an Accord, or a Passat?

It also costs, what, $30-40k more than the CC 2.0T? The CC attracts buyers of the CLS who don't quite have CLS money. And it really is a good looking car.

There is no prestige to owning a VW, and for the money I'd rather get an I6 X5 over a V8 Touareg.  If I am spending that kind of money, I could care less if the BMW isn't as well equipped.

That's your own problem, that's no fault of VW. The Touareg's sold well, and if you've been in that interior, it's upscale enough to forget the badge.

The 5.0L has been phased out in favor of the 5.5L in the US. Same story with the 5.4L V8 and the 6.2L V8. We don't get the CLS350 nor do we get the CLS320 CDI, so you're down to the CLS550 and the CLS63 AMG. Funny, you'd also be between two choices with the CC. The 2.0T and the 3.6.

Also, the CC starts at $27,100. The CLS starts at $70,500.

But that's the thing:  VW is too expensive to be mainstream and not prestigious enough to compete with the big guys.  That, and Audi fills that role nicely.  You can't even get a Passat with the same equipment levels as an Accord EX-L V6 for under $35k.

Yeah, I guess they priced it ambitiously, but you're getting a car that drives better than the Accord. You're basically getting a discount A4/3er/G35.

But the car is getting up in price where a CPO BMW or Audi with equipment and the badge is starting to look like a really good idea.  It isn't priced right at all.

It may be a great car, but what does it compete with?

A CPO BMW is the biggest joke I've ever seen. When we were 5er shopping, all the CPO 530s were so expensive that there was hardly any cost benefit to buying one over a new 535.

And the same argument goes for the CC. VW's depreciate quickly, so one could pick up a CPO CC cheaper than they could find a new Accord V6.

Then a CPO VDub might make more sense.  I can't deny it being a good car.  It's a great car.  But not for $40k with the V6.

Well I was kidding around but since you asked I wouldn't have any of those car - they're just way to boring.  For around the same money I'ld have a 328 or whatever it's numbered now- you know the old 330.  It's not much more money and it's just a better car for everyday when weighted for short fits of fun.  I actually really dislike the VW cars- just don't like them at all.  But I DO like the Toureg quite a bit.

But the 328i's a lot more expensive. They aren't really comparable.

Obviously you'd rather have a 328i over those cars, but the people who are buying these cars don't usually have that option.

I don't think they're that much more are they?  I don't know what the others cost but you can get a pretty nice 328 for about $30-32 ish if you don' t load it all up.  That's pretty reasonable and honestly it's cheaper than a 300C and a lot more fun to drive minus the v8 experience.

I shoulda known that.  I always think of them as "off-lease" because that's how we got ours was off her parents lease.  Thanks-

Ok- I didn't realize they were up that much now.  I just built one on their site and with just a couple upgrades it quickly got to 36k.

The Passat CC is worthless.  Is it a cutrate CLS or an expensive, less functional Passat?

Expensive, less functional Passat. The CLS looks better than the E-class, the CC doesn't look better than the Passat.

And, for some idiotic reason, VW has decided to quit producing decently equipped Passats, if you want leather, the V6, or AWD you have to get the CC.

They hardly sold any 3.6 AWD Passat sedans. I think the CC looks a lot better than the Passat.
