Ah, that's like the POWER button for my Camry. My parents freaked out when they found out I used it. "I DON'T WANT YOU GETTING TICKETS!" I had to have my dad drive the car to let him experience the anemic fury firsthand. He promptly dropped his objection.

My first Trooper had one of those. Pretty much pointless. I usually just shifted the transmission myself when I wanted to hold a gear. It also had a Winter mode, where it would start in second gear. I never got to use it, because the only time it snowed in Bellingham when I had it, there was a flat tire.

I never should have sold that thing... :banghead:

Including Trep, but usually by the end of it we find out that it never was his car.

That's pretty cool, I'm sure it would be fun offroad. On road, I'm not so sure...

So far, so good, off road. I would probably lower the body an inch (if possible) and lift the suspension a couple of inches. Maybe put an LSD in the rear and get some longer travel suspension bits. The whole thing is full of dust, though, so buttons and such seem to get a little stuck.

On road, it handles like shit. Something is wrong with the alignment or the suspension/steering, because it won't hold a line very well in a curve at speed. The brakes are also touchy. Not too thrilled in that department at the moment. It would probably be cheap, though, and it's got the sweet 4.3 Vortec (which would sound great with a better intake and exhaust). Transmission is obviously automatic, and it kind of sucks nuts. We'll see.

j/k, the fuel gauge doen't work

As far as the engine, sometimes it runs about 100%, but usually it hit a flat spot around 1500 rpm. Ticking sound msybe from exhaust manifold. I'm thinking weak spark, or bad mixture, or both.

Exhaust manifold was a weak spot on that engine, IIRC.  The exhaust manifold on my dad's Pathfinder developed a crack around 80K miles.  It was fixed under a recall/service bulletin at the dealership for no charge to him.  His was a '98 SE with the VG33, I don't know if there was a similar service order for your generation.  It's probably for naught anyway, I'd imagine that you're well over the age/mileage terms.

For the price you paid, that stuff is all pretty minor though.

If the manifolds are indeed cracked, then it seems the only option would be to get headers
