No need to get testy.  I just don't see how you can fuck it up so badly as to call it an annoyance and an easy mistake.  I cannot recall the last time it happened to me.

OHNOES, WAS THAT HIS BRAKES OR HIS TURN SIGNAL?!

How do you fuck that up?  Especially at night when lights look BRIGHT and should be EASIER to distinguish...

And considering people slow down to turn anyway, you're probably going to have to hit your brakes regardless.

I don't understand why anyone cares about this.

Car lights are regulated. The people responsible for the regulations discovered a small glitch and an easy solution.

End. Of. Story.

Depending on price, that could be a good deal.

I'm talking about the freeway when people are changing lanes and such. It could also be applicable to a busy street.

I don't know. The Aveo has amber signals, IIRC.

Either it's commonly burned out or I'm personally behind a disproportionate number of cars where it's burned out.

Sometimes people disconnect it when they need to do something around the trunk and forget to plug it back in.

Read my post: WHEN THERE IS A LOT OF TRAFFIC, OR AT NIGHT; PARTICULARLY ON THE FREEWAY.

You're a terrible driver if you're only looking at the car directly in front of you.

Add to the fact that many manufacturers often use the same lamp for signaling as well as braking, it can get very confusing.

What if you can't see it? i.e, another car is blocking it. Besides, I'm talking about people that tap their brakes intermittently, not regular braking. An amber signal is a lot easier and quicker for my brain to distinguish.
You've never even driven on the freeway.

And if you get confused by red turn signals vs amber turn signals, please, don't get your license.

You know what's really stupid? The Escort has an amber section in the taillight, but it's not a light. The brake light is the signal light.

It's honestly not a big deal... I've never gotten confused or come close to crashing into anyone due to their lights.

I don't think anyone has either. It's more of an annoyance than a legit safety concern.

It's not even an annoyance! I don't even realize what kind of lights cars have.

If a car slows down, I slow down. If a car is turning I slow down. It doesn't actually matter what kind of light there is!

I used to really like amber lights.  But now that I have a nearly completely red taillamp cluster, I like the red turn signal.  It looks cool.

I find it confusing. I'm not trying to pass it off as fact.

So here is an amusing story.

So when I first got the Z06, I noticed in the garage that half of my brake lights wouldn't turn on.  So I thought, shit they were burned out.  So I drove to the GM dealer in the other car (didn't want to get pulled over for busted taillights) to get new bulbs.  After I replaced the two bulbs, I had the exact same problem.  Then I thought, crap it must be some other electrical problem.  So I got into the car to drive to the dealer.  As soon as I fired her up, the turn signal was blinking away.  I felt like an idiot and returned the bulbs I got.  So apparently while the turn signal is activated, the brake is inactivated on that side because they share a bulb.  However when the car is off, the turn signals don't work, but the brake lights remain inactivated on that side.  That also means if I have my blinkers on, the only way you'd know I was braking is when the top tailight comes on.

USA_Idol

I really don't care what color the turn signals are on my car.  They can be amber, they can be red.  Big frakkin' deal.

The taillights should get brighter when you hit the brake pedal. Do they not?
