It's because old Volvos are just so much more aerodynamic than everything else.

Iffy, Dr. Noonien Soong must have installed the humor chip into your neural net lately.  Let's just hope it doesn't overload your positronic relays anytime soon.

Yeah, it would be a one lap race called "24 Hours of Nurburgring"

I want to see a Yugo vs. Tata Nano race on a rallycross track like in X Games

The tata is quite durable and reliable. That's what tata is known for, making durable and reliable cars.

By third-world standards...

The Rover CityRover, a Tata Indica in drag, was renowned for being a complete POS.

It was a bit crude for the European market, but the drivetrain is known for being simple and reliable.

Madman

I'm seem to remember CAR Magazine saying the CityRover's (AKA Tata Indica's) engine was an old Peugeot unit.  I've never really heard any criticism of the engine itself.  It's the rest of the car everyone hated.  Oh, and the CityRover's outrageously inflated price, too.

That's not fair, the Swift was a purebred racing machine toned down for street use.

Yeah, but wasn't it purebred for horse-drawn carriage racing?

I posted that car on page 1 of this thread, but apparently no one noticed racing Yugos.

I think people appreciate the dedication, imagination, creativity, and skill involved in making a cool racer out of an "ugly duckling," but I don't expect anyone to change their opinion of the production car just because a few individuals put a lot of time and effort into making something unique and quirky.

Well their wrong then! Look at the pictures of these clean cars and how their on a track! You must respect them even if just about everyone in the world thinks their dog shit.

Now forgive me, I must go turn a Chevette into a "racing car" and tell people how great they are.

People were talking about how a Yugo can't do something, or that no one bought them to modify, and I (and l.ed. foote BTW) posted pics of ones that can and were. A perfectly reasonable rebuttal. Sorry that you're too fucking brain dead to appreciate that.
