Police: Fake officer tries to stop a real one

Sat., July 25, 2009
OAKLAND, Calif. - Oakland police say a man impersonating a police officer tried to pull over a real undercover officer and was arrested.

Police say 21-year-old Antonio Fernandez Martinez of Oakland was arrested Wednesday in the Fruitvale district after trying to pull over an unmarked police vehicle. Martinez was driving a Ford Crown Victoria outfitted with flashing lights, a microphone and speakers.

Martinez, a convicted car thief, will have his felony probation revoked and could face a prison term.

They seriously need to do more with these guys. It's too easy to impersonate and make some monies.
The guy is horribly retarded if he pulled over an unmarked car though- aren't they easy to spot??

It depends- we use pool cars from the state of MI for our undercovers.  Anything from 1989 Olds cutlasses to 2010 BMW 7 ers.  Just depends what you need it for- and how much you're willing to pay per mile to the state pool division.

The ones in my area (there are very few) can be spotted because of the big antenna and "official" license plate.

The ones you know about!

A few years back the town next to mine rocked a teal green 80s Firebird that they got from a drug dealer....awesome

AFAIK, there are undercover cars and unmarked cars. Unmarked car are easy-- Crown Vic or whatever they use with an antenna, official plates, and those cop wheels. Undercover cars, we'll never notice unless we have some inside info or are being chased by one. I don't think undercover cars are meant for chases and traffic enforcement and such, anyway. Right, rohan?

Not without a pretty damn good reason.
The point of undercover cars is that you don't see them unless you're being tackled by the ofc in the car or something like that.
