I just have one question.

Why the hell is that front end so damn high?  Pedestrian safety regulations?

The profile isn't bad, actually.

But man, that front end couldn't possibly be anywhere close to good looking.

My bad, fixed.

New 6?

It might be a new 6, but it looks completely different in character.  Maybe it's just a concept, but it seems too staid for that.

Looks like the M1 concept. There was an earlier post on Autoblog about it. (http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/29/report-bmw-debuting-sustainable-sports-car-concept-in-frankfurt/)

Concept:

The proportions are all wrong.

Other than the front end being too high, it looks to be very stylish.

MrH

The M1 concept is person is absolutely GORGEOUS.

I saw it in person at the BMW museum with Wimmer.

Even in pictures, that M1 concept is sex on wheels.

Hell, I think the same thing of the original M1.

The headlights on the M1 concept look too small. I would've preferred popup headlights instead.

The original M1 or the concept?

Either way, I don't believe I have. I'd love to see it.

There are rumours that an M1 or Z10 new car may be making its debut in Frankfurt. It would be a mid-engine, hybrid, sports car with a 6 pot turbo mounted in a mid engine format to compete with the R8 in 2012. I can only hope its true. I need a car in the BMW lineup to aspire to.

Wow, I haven't heard that.  Thanks for posting.  I wouldn't be surprised if BMW goes with a hybrid.

There's been a lot of talk about BMW's new direction.  They're really trying to promote a new green image.  I feel like they're promoting the "Efficient Dynamics" idea more in Europe than they are in the US though.  I'm afraid the current M cars will be the last of the great M's.  The new 5-series is shaping up to still be good, but high revvin', naturally aspirated seem to be a dying thing unfortunately .

BMW wants to offer R8 capability with better emissions. Let?s see if they can. I will definitely miss the high revving N/A engines, particularly for their throttle response. If Porsche can do it (Cayman, Boxster, Carrera/S, GT3), why can't BMW?

The only person who even suggested it might be the M1 was Speed Racer.

I didn't notice either! And it was pretty obvious. Anyway, the rumour mill now is saying that this is a new 6er 4-door coupe. Sounds like a CLS competitor to me. It might show the inverted grille that is coming to BMW.

Ok, seriously, how many cars does BMW need? They're creating their own niche segments.

Latest update from bmwblog.com

BMW says: ?This is not the BMW eco concept going to the Frankfurt motor show?

Well, so much for the excitement after seeing the spy photos of what seemed to be the BMW Concept car that will be revealed at Frankfurt Auto Show.

This is not actually the BMW eco concept to be revealed at the Frankfurt motor show, but a five-year-old design study, according to the company. A spokesman for BMW this morning told Autocar UK that it is a model being moved from the central design facility.

A late rumor showed up on the web yesterday when a source close to BMW stated that this could be one of the multiple design proposals, a full scale clay model, that is presented to the board before a final decision is made. As Autocar confirmed, this was a study case made to explore ?different design directions and aerodynamics.?
