Cover said territory looking like an 8 year old high on sugar went a little too overboard in "TONKA'S BIG RIG COLORING BOOK"?

Yeah, the Raptor wouldn't cut it for "most terrestrial territory" on a number of levels.

First, the Raptor's add-on bits are worth zilch when not on a dirt road - mud, rocks, or otherwise slow going.

Second, on much the rest of the planet getting good quality gasoline is difficult - you'd have to go with a far-less-sensitive-to-fuel-quality diesel engine.

*ahem* relative to the other vehicles listed; i.e., not any better on such terrain ("mud, rocks, or otherwise slow going") and probably worse.

The Raptor would get uber ultra mega pwned on a cross continent jaunt WRT a diesel Range Rover or Land Cruiser.

You obviously have no clue what you're talking about.  The Raptor would easily destroy any Land Rover or Land Cruiser on a cross continent jaunt especially if those vehicle aren't allowed to use pavement at all.

Scrambling through a muddy, narrow jungle trail somewhere in Africa or South America, a Land Rover would destroy a Raptor.  The Raptor was basically built for Baja type off roading.  High speed, open spaces.

Just as MX793 implies, the type of stuff the Raptor is optimized for - baja-style terrain - is relatively rare on a continent-wide scale. Anything else the other two would be equal (paved roads - being generous to Ford's 5.4L here) or superior (snow, mud, rock crawling, or anything otherwise slower and technical).

Obviously you haven't been privy to the videos of the Raptor in 4 Lo.

Which is great so long as the trail you're on is wide enough to accommodate a Hummer H1 (in which case, you'd be better off with an H1 as that can climb stuff a Raptor won't, plus ford streams deeper than the hood if you've got a snorkel).  The Raptor is a foot wider than the Land Rover Discovery.  It simply won't fit down trails that the Disco can get through.

Soft, long travel suspension blows for keeping meats on grade during low speed articulation. Plus it's much longer and wider.

I'm thinking the premise of the question would be like the aliens asking "so how do you guys like to get around?"

My personal answer would be either a 1962 Lincoln Continental convertible or 1980's Rolls Corniche convertible

My Focus could ford a stream if you put a snorkel and big tires on it.

I'm pretty sure your ignition system wouldn't hold up too well if you tried running the engine while it was submerged.  The H1 is diesel:  No ignition system.  The only threat water poses is if it gets sucked into the intake.

I know you're just kidding, but anything deep enough to require a snorkel would carry your Focus downstream anyway.

Ford needs to bring over an AWD WRC inspired Focus to the US, i'd totally buy it.

We need a *drool* smilie.

I think there's also a video comparing one to the GT-R, and frankly in real world situations the RS is just about as quick, point to point.

BUT...
