...In one of the strangest rumors we've heard recently, however, our compatriots over at Jalopnik ? fueled by 1.21 gigawatts a Facebook message from DMC ? are reporting that the DeLorean Motor Company (yes, that DeLorean Motor Company) is considering buying the plant and the platform from GM and putting it back into production as a new DMC...

I think it's be pretty damn cool.

I also say that they should stuff a Volvo engine in the rear, but I'll settle for a gullwing-ized hardtop coupe

No way. I can see Roger Penske taking it over for a sports car line, or Magna taking it for Opel, but DMC?

omicron

That's so crazy it just might work.

Where DMC is going to find the money for that, I have no idea.

Not just any Solstice... it's got a flux capacitor and a "Mr. Fusion".

Other than not being able to fit the girlfriend in it, this car would be perfect for a remake. You know, every great movie has to have a remake eventually.

I wonder what the timeline would be for such a remake.

Also, they did fit 3 people in the Delorean a few times in the movies.

On a related topic, we're only 6 years away from flying cars. I can't wait!

They still have 6 years to make 14 more Jaws movies.

Considering that studios have basically given up after the awesomeness of Shark Attack 3, I think we're more likely to see household nuclear fusion generators by that time.

You apparently don't remember the scenes with Doc in the driver's seat, Marty in the passenger seat, and the girlfriend in the back, do you?

I think she was sitting between them, straddling the shifter. Don't ask where the e-brake handle was...

I can't recall if it's DMC or another company, but somebody is building "new" DMC-12s using a mixture of new and used parts.
