The US spec Ford Fiesta is supposed to be slightly different, stylistically, but really it doesn't look too different.

Not dramatically different, but not quite as taut looking.

I prefer the Euro version, but the Mazda2 kills them both styling-wise.

Not digging the big chrome "gills" where the fog lights are on the Euro model.  Unless what appears to be chrome is actually some sort of reflector or just clear plastic for a foglight, it needs to go.  Big chrome patches didn't work on the Focus, they don't work here.  Ford, please stop putting random splotches of chrome on your cars.

Will there be an optional V8 option that will allow this car to do 0-60 in 5 seconds? A 200-hp V6 should be at least standard.

The Euro version is perfect, so why change it at all?  Goddammit, Ford, stop fucking up the US versions of your cars!  :heated:

Also, the car in the background appears to have all-red taillights, so no amber turn indicators for us.  I wonder what other areas Ford will cheap-out on before this car hits US showrooms?

I like the US version better. It's not so squished.

I really like those quasi-trapezoidal foglight surrounds.  All the little cars I drew in my notebook in college often had trapezoidal elements to the details.

I remember reading an interview by Mulally where he said that they would need to cheapen the interior because Americans would not be willing to pay for it. Mind you I don't know if this is still up todate.

Btw. the euro model shown is a low spec one. Our mid/high spec ones are also chromed.

SVT666

The US spec one shown is a sedan.  FTMFL!  Other then that, I like the subtle changes made, like the trapezoidal fog light surrounds.

What's wrong with the sedan? I think it's quite attractive, given it's limitations.

I'm going to say that is a stupid and inane comment.

A bit hard to tell from that state of assembly.  Except for the fog-lamps,  I don't see much difference.  I do like the Euro lamps better though.

A sedan version of a car this small is totally and completely retarded.

What's the point?

Indeed.  Compromise both aesthetics and cargo space just for some folks to can't be associated with a hatch-back because it isn't "cool" enough.

What's the point?

With some hatchbacks, there's almost no floor space behind the rear seat, while the sedan offers a trunk that's more usable if you don't plan to drop down the rear seat. The Chevrolet Aveo and Scion xA/Toyota Echo were that way, and photos suggest the Fiesta is the same.

I'd pick the greater versatility, but there is some merit beyond just conventionality.

the Teuton

The C-pillars don't look to be as thick on the sedan. Ford does a mighty good job camouflaging them, but they're absolutely massive on the hatchback.
